Description
The Taurus 22TUC Threaded is the tip-up .22 with a longer barrel that protrudes past the slide and is threaded at the muzzle. It is the version bought by people who already have a rimfire can, or who are waiting on the stamp for one.
The Taurus 22TUC Threaded gives nine rounds plus one, a 3.10-inch barrel, a matte black stainless slide and a black polymer frame. The tip-up mechanism is unchanged, so no slide racking is required to load or unload it.
What the Taurus 22TUC Threaded offers
- The Taurus 22TUC Threaded has a threaded muzzle, ready for a rimfire suppressor once your paperwork is approved
- 3.10-inch barrel, about half an inch longer than the standard 22TUC, which also gains a little velocity
- Tip-up barrel: press the lever, the barrel swings up, drop a round straight into the chamber
- No slide racking at any point, which is the whole reason this design exists
- 9+1 capacity in .22 LR
- Matte black stainless slide over a black polymer micro-compact frame
- Double action only, with both a manual safety and a trigger safety

The threaded barrel, plainly explained
- The Taurus 22TUC Threaded barrel is not restricted in itself. Threads are just threads and no paperwork attaches to them
- MAG5 does not sell NFA items. A suppressor requires an ATF application, a tax stamp and approval before you may take possession of it
- The Taurus 22TUC Threaded is a pistol and stays a pistol. We do not sell or configure short-barrelled rifles
- Rimfire cans get filthy fast and most are designed to be taken apart for cleaning. Factor that in when you choose one
- A suppressor adds weight out front on a ten-ounce pistol, which changes the balance noticeably
- Check thread pitch before ordering a can or an adapter, and ask us if you are unsure

.22 Long Rifle is a standardised cartridge with dimensions and pressures published by SAAMI, but performance varies enormously between brands. That matters twice over here: once for reliable cycling in a small blowback pistol, and again because most .22 ammunition is already subsonic, which is part of why rimfire suppressors work so well.
One practical note on the tip-up barrel and a can. With a suppressor fitted the barrel still tips up, but the extra weight makes the action noticeably heavier to operate and the whole package is front-heavy. Most owners of a Taurus 22TUC Threaded treat it as a range and small-game gun with the can on, and a pocket pistol with the can off.
Why this pistol earns its place
- A factory threaded barrel on a pistol that is otherwise a pocket gun
- The tip-up barrel removes the biggest physical barrier to operating a small pistol
- Ten ounces or so unsuppressed, so the Taurus 22TUC Threaded still gets carried
- Nine rounds plus one, more than any pocket revolver
- Cheap ammunition, so practice is affordable and regular
- Almost no recoil, which keeps follow-up shots fast
Suppressor owners and anyone waiting on a stamp, shooters with limited hand strength, and people who want the lightest possible rimfire that can also be quietened. The Taurus 22TUC Threaded is a specialist, and it is bought by people who know exactly why they want it.
If you do not need the threads, the standard matte black 22TUC is cheaper and shorter, and the G10-gripped version gives more to hold on to.
In plated finishes, the blue PVD, rose gold and purple PVD are the decorative options. If you would rather have a revolver, the eight-shot Taurus 942 needs no loading lever at all.
Every Taurus 22TUC ships with the factory case, the magazine, the manual and a lock. Transfers go to your FFL and our end of the paperwork is done the same day.
