Description
The Taurus 22TUC G10 is the tip-up .22 with machined G10 grip panels in place of the usual moulded polymer. On a pistol this small that is not a cosmetic change: the panels are deeply cut in a starburst pattern and they give a hand far more to hold on to than a smooth frame does.
Everything else on the Taurus 22TUC G10 is the standard 22TUC. Nine rounds of .22 LR plus one in the chamber, a 2.50-inch barrel that tips up at the press of a lever, and a total weight around ten ounces.
Why the G10 panels matter here
- The Taurus 22TUC G10 uses a machined laminate, so the texture is cut into the material rather than moulded and it never wears smooth
- Deep starburst cut on the panels, which gives a positive hold even with a light grip
- That matters more on a ten-ounce pistol than on anything heavier, because there is so little gun to hold
- The tip-up barrel is unchanged: press the lever, the barrel swings up, drop a round straight into the chamber
- No slide racking is required at any point, which is the whole reason the Taurus 22TUC G10 exists
- 9+1 capacity in .22 LR from a 2.50-inch barrel
- Double action only, with both a manual safety and a trigger safety

Who the tip-up barrel is for
- Anyone with arthritis, a hand injury or reduced grip strength, for whom racking a subcompact slide is a genuine obstacle
- New shooters, because loading and unloading is visible and obvious rather than a sequence to memorise
- Anyone who wants to clear the chamber without cycling a live round through the ejection port
- The G10 panels make the Taurus 22TUC G10 the version to choose if grip strength is the reason you are looking at it
- Honest limits: .22 LR is a modest cartridge and this is a very small, very light gun. Placement is everything
- Rimfire ammunition varies enormously between brands. Test several and find what cycles reliably in yours

.22 Long Rifle is the oldest cartridge still in common production and it remains standardised, with dimensions and pressures published by SAAMI. What is not standardised is performance: velocities vary by several hundred feet per second between brands, which in a small blowback pistol is the difference between reliable cycling and intermittent stoppages.
One honest note on what this pistol is. A ten-ounce .22 is a specialist answer rather than a general one. If you can operate a slide and carry a 9mm, a 9mm is the better defensive choice and we will say so. The Taurus 22TUC G10 exists for people who cannot, or who want something so light they will genuinely carry it, and for that person it beats a bigger gun left at home.
Why this pistol earns its place
- A tip-up barrel, which removes the biggest physical barrier to operating a small pistol
- Machined G10 panels that give real purchase on a gun with very little to hold
- Ten ounces, so the Taurus 22TUC G10 gets carried on days a steel gun stays in the safe
- Nine rounds plus one, more than any pocket revolver
- Cheap ammunition, so practice is affordable and regular
- Almost no recoil, which keeps follow-up shots quick and makes it pleasant to learn on
Shooters with limited hand strength, new owners, and anyone buying a first pistol for someone who has been put off by recoil or by racking a slide. The Taurus 22TUC G10 is also a genuinely enjoyable range gun, which is not a small thing.
The same pistol comes in several finishes. The plain matte black is the standard build, and the blue PVD and rose gold PVD are the plated finishes.
For something more decorative, look at the engraved blue wave, the cherry blossom or the purple PVD. If you would rather have a revolver with no slide at all, the eight-shot Taurus 942 needs no loading lever.
Every Taurus 22TUC ships with the factory case, the magazine, the manual and a lock. Transfers go to your FFL and our end of the paperwork is done the same day.
