Description
The Taurus 22TUC Rose Gold is a micro-compact 22 LR with a tip-up barrel, catalogued by Taurus as 1-22TUC13RG. Nine rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, a 2.50-inch barrel, and a polished rose gold PVD finish on the barrel and slide over a black polymer frame.
The tip-up barrel is the feature that matters. Press the release and the barrel hinges up at the breech, so a round can be placed directly into the chamber and an unfired round can be removed the same way. Nobody has to rack a slide against a recoil spring to load or unload the Taurus 22TUC Rose Gold, which is the single most common physical barrier to operating a semi-automatic pistol.
MAG5 Firearms has it in stock. Handguns ship to a licensed FFL on a signed 4473, and we coordinate the transfer with your dealer.
What the tip-up barrel changes
- Loading and unloading the chamber requires no grip strength at all, only the barrel release.
- There is no need to rack a slide, which is where arthritis, hand injuries and reduced grip strength usually stop people.
- Unloading is visibly positive: the barrel is open and the chamber is in plain sight.
- The Taurus 22TUC Rose Gold still functions as a normal semi-automatic once loaded, so nothing else about shooting it is unusual.
- It makes the pistol far easier to check safe, which matters in any household.

Finish, size and shooting it
- Polished rose gold PVD on the barrel and slide, a vapour-deposited coating that is considerably harder than plating.
- A black polymer frame with a textured grip panel, sized as a micro-compact.
- Nine rounds plus one chambered, which is generous for a pistol this small.
- A 22 LR recoils so little that new shooters can concentrate on sights and trigger rather than flinch.
- Rimfire ammunition costs a fraction of centerfire, so the Taurus 22TUC Rose Gold is cheap to practise with by the brick.

Rimfire ammunition is produced to the dimensional and pressure standards published by SAAMI, but 22 LR is more sensitive to the individual gun than any centerfire cartridge: one brand will run flawlessly where another short-cycles. Buy two or three types, find the one your pistol likes, then buy that one by the case. We stock Aguila 22 LR Interceptor 40gr and Eley Precision 22 LR.
For a centerfire micro-compact of similar size, see the Taurus GX4 in 9mm. Browse the rest of our semi-automatic handguns and our wider handgun range before deciding.
Why the 22TUC earns its place
- The Taurus 22TUC Rose Gold removes the slide-racking problem entirely, which no amount of practice fixes for some shooters.
- Nine rounds of 22 LR in a pistol that fits a jacket pocket.
- Rimfire ammunition is cheap enough that regular practice is realistic rather than aspirational.
- PVD is a hard, thin coating rather than a plated layer, so the finish holds up to handling.
- Taurus backs it with a limited lifetime repair policy that follows the firearm rather than the original buyer.
This is the pistol to look at when slide strength is the obstacle: arthritis, a hand injury, or simply a preference for not fighting a recoil spring every time the gun is loaded. It is also a genuinely good training pistol, because a 22 LR lets a new shooter build trigger control without flinch. Be clear-eyed about the cartridge: 22 LR is a small round, and anyone choosing it for defensive use should do so knowing that and train accordingly.
