Description
The Taurus 22TUC Cherry Blossom is a nine-shot .22 LR micro-compact with a 2.50-inch tip-up barrel and a rose-finished slide engraved with a cherry blossom branch. The engraving is cut into the metal, not printed on top of it, so it will not wear off at the holster edges the way a decal or a laser-printed graphic does.
Underneath the decoration this is the standard 22TUC, and the standard 22TUC exists for one reason: the barrel tips up. Press the release, the muzzle rises, and you load a round straight into the chamber by hand. Nobody has to rack a slide, which makes the Taurus 22TUC Cherry Blossom a genuine answer for shooters whose hands cannot manage a blowback pistol.
Why the tip-up barrel matters
- Loading needs no grip strength at all. The barrel release sits on the left side of the frame, the barrel pivots up, and the first round drops in.
- Unloading is just as easy, and you can see straight into the chamber instead of squinting at an extractor cut.
- There is no short-stroked chambering attempt to get wrong, which is where most loading fumbles with small pistols begin.
- Once loaded, the Taurus 22TUC Cherry Blossom cycles as a conventional blowback pistol — the slide runs normally under recoil.
- A manual thumb safety sits on the left side of the frame, where a right-hand thumb falls on it naturally.

About the finish and the engraving
- On the Taurus 22TUC Cherry Blossom the engraved branch runs the length of the slide in cut relief, with the rose tone behind it. It is a decorative gun and makes no pretence otherwise.
- Because the pattern is machined rather than applied, holster wear takes the finish down evenly instead of peeling a graphic away in patches.
- The frame and grip are black polymer, so the colour is confined to the slide.
- Slide serrations are cut through the same finished surface at the rear, so the purchase you grip does not depend on the coating staying intact.
- If you want the same pistol with a different treatment, it is also made with an engraved blue wave slide, in polished gold and rose gold, and in plain matte black and matte stainless.

Rimfire ammunition is made to a standard published by SAAMI, but standardised is not the same as interchangeable in practice: bullet weight, velocity and case lubrication vary a great deal between .22 LR loads, and a small blowback pistol is far fussier about that than a rifle. Buy two or three brands, shoot a box of each, and stay with whatever runs. High-velocity 36 to 40 grain ammunition is usually the answer; subsonic and match loads often will not drive the slide far enough to cycle.
The rest of the family is in stock as well — the engraved blue wave 22TUC, the polished gold PVD, the rose gold PVD, the plain matte black and the matte stainless. All of them share the 2.50-inch tip-up barrel and 9+1 capacity.
Why the Taurus 22TUC Cherry Blossom earns its place
- A loading system that works for hands that cannot rack a slide — no coaching substitutes for that.
- Nine rounds plus one in a pistol that disappears in a coat pocket or a handbag.
- The Taurus 22TUC Cherry Blossom is cheap to feed, which means it actually gets shot, which is the only thing that builds skill.
- Engraving that is machined in rather than applied, so it ages honestly.
- A light single-action trigger with a short press.
Be clear about the cartridge. The Taurus 22TUC Cherry Blossom is a .22 out of a two-and-a-half-inch barrel, which is a light-duty round, and rimfire ignition is inherently less certain than centre-fire — that matters in a gun you might stake your life on. Where it makes real sense is as a trainer, a pocket and trail gun, and as a defensive option for someone who genuinely cannot work a centre-fire pistol. A gun you can load and shoot beats a more powerful one you cannot.
