Description
The Beretta 92XI in 9mm, part number SPEC0743A10, is the single action only 92 finished in Desert DPM camouflage Cerakote over a stainless slide and a steel frame. The barrel is 4.70 inches, the slide is cut for a micro red dot from the factory, and capacity is ten plus one. Desert DPM is the British desert pattern, broad irregular tan and brown shapes rather than the fine spots of Flecktarn or the digital blocks of American camouflage. It is the lightest of the three finishes Beretta offers on this gun.
The 92XI drops the double action first shot. There is no decocker and no long initial pull; the trigger is the same every time, which is the change 1911 shooters always said the 92 needed.
What single action only changes
A standard 92 gives you a long, heavy double action pull for the first shot and a short single action pull for everything after. Learning to shoot both well takes real work.
The 92XI gives you one trigger pull, every time, from the first round to the last. There is no transition and no first shot that lands differently from the rest.
There is no decocker, so the gun carries cocked and locked with the safety on, the same way a 1911 does. Anyone coming from a 1911 will recognise the manual of arms immediately.
Anyone who specifically wants a double action first shot for carry should buy a 92FS or a 92GTS instead.
Why the Beretta 92XI feels the way it does
Slide and frame are both steel, so the gun is heavy and sits very flat under recoil. On a 9mm that is close to motionless.
The slide is cut for a micro red dot at the factory with an adapter plate system, so there is no machining and no lost warranty.
Controls are ambidextrous, which matters more than most shooters expect the first time they clear a stoppage with the wrong hand.
The open slide, falling locking block action is unchanged, so the gun feeds and shoots the way every 92 does.

Cartridge dimensions and pressures are standardized by SAAMI. For practice we stock 115 grain 9mm brass cased full metal jacket, and standard 92 pattern magazines fit the gun. Because there is no decocker, treat this like a 1911: the hammer stays back and the safety goes on, and you lower the hammer by hand on an empty chamber only. The other finishes are Flecktarn and Vegetato, the latter offered with a steel frame or a lighter aluminium frame. Shooters who want a double action first shot should compare the 92GTS.
Every handgun we sell ships to a licensed FFL for transfer.
Why it is worth considering
- One trigger pull from the first round to the last.
- A steel slide and a steel frame, which makes a 9mm about as flat shooting as it gets.
- A factory optic cut with an adapter plate system.
- Ambidextrous controls throughout, not just the safety.
- A Desert DPM Cerakote finish that is a corrosion barrier as much as a pattern.
Who it suits
This suits a range or competition shooter who wants a consistent trigger and does not mind carrying weight, and anyone coming to Beretta from a 1911. It is the wrong choice for a double action carry gun, and the aluminium framed 92XI is the better buy if weight matters. Every handgun we sell ships to a licensed FFL for transfer.
