Ultradot Green Matchdot II Overview
The Matchdot II uses a 30mm tube with a 37mm objective lens. It weighs about 5.1 oz and is about 5.1 in long. The sight is parallax free at 50 meters, which is the distance many target shooters work at, and it fits Weaver and Picatinny rails with the included 30mm rings. One CR2032 lithium battery powers it, with run time from about 20 to 4,000 hours depending on brightness. Ultradot lists it as made in Japan.
Dot Sizes and Reticles
You can select a green dot in 2, 4, 6 or 8 MOA, plus two additional reticle patterns. A 2 MOA dot is ideal for slow fire bullseye, where you want the smallest possible aiming point. The bigger dots are faster to pick up on action pistol stages and moving targets.
Adjustments
Windage and elevation move in 1 MOA clicks with clear tactile feedback. The elevation knob is a target style BDC knob, so you can dial for distance instead of holding over. Eleven brightness settings, also with tactile clicks, let you tune the dot for indoor ranges or bright outdoor matches.

Ultradot includes 30mm mounting rings, lens covers, a tube extension that works as a sunshade, a polarizing filter to cut glare, a hex wrench and a CR2032 battery.

Why a Green Dot
The human eye is most sensitive to green light, so a green dot often looks brighter and sharper than a red one at the same setting, especially in daylight. Many shooters with some red color weakness also find green easier to see. In very dark settings a dim red dot can be a little easier on night vision, so think about where you shoot most.
Zeroing Tips
Most rifle and shotgun shooters zero a red dot at 50 or 100 yards, depending on the gun and how it will be used. Start at about 25 yards to get on paper, then move back and fine tune. Fire small groups before each change, and confirm zero with the ammunition you plan to use.
Battery Care
Replace the battery once a year on a defensive gun, even if the dot still looks fine, and keep a spare in your range bag. Wipe the lens with a soft cloth or lens pen, not a shirt tail, to keep the coatings clean. If the dot seems dim or flickers, check the battery and contacts first.
