Description
The Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated 9 MOA Green is a battery-free reflex sight. Instead of an LED and a coin cell, it lights its 9 MOA green dot with fiber optics during the day and a tritium lamp at night, so it is always on and never needs a battery.
Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated 9 MOA Green Overview
This is Trijicon’s Ruggedized Miniature Reflex in its dual-illuminated form. The housing is forged aluminum with Trijicon’s patented shape that directs impact energy away from the lens, and the sight is waterproof to 66 feet. Windage and elevation adjust 1 MOA per click without special tools. Our feed lists Trijicon model RM05G for this listing, while at least one retailer lists the same UPC as the earlier RM03; both are 9 MOA green dual-illuminated RMRs.
How Dual Illumination Works
A fiber optic collector on top of the housing gathers ambient light and feeds it to the reticle, so the dot automatically gets brighter in bright light and dimmer in shade. When light fades, a tritium lamp takes over and keeps the dot visible in darkness. There are no buttons, no settings and nothing to switch on. Pick up the gun and the dot is there.
The Known Quirk
Because brightness follows the light falling on the sight, the dot can wash out if you are standing in deep shade looking at a brightly lit target, and it can bloom if you are in bright sun aiming into a dark doorway. Most owners learn to work with it, but it is the main reason many shooters choose the LED RMR instead. Taping part of the fiber is a common fix if bloom bothers you.
Why 9 MOA Green
A 9 MOA dot is large, roughly 2.25 inches at 25 yards, and very fast to pick up. That size suits close-range defense, shotguns, and backup offset sights on rifles. Green is easy for most eyes to see against varied backgrounds. For precise shots at distance, a smaller LED dot is the better tool.
Tritium Lifespan
Tritium has a half-life of about 12.3 years, so the night brightness slowly fades over a decade or more. Trijicon’s limited lifetime warranty covers the optic, with separate coverage terms for the tritium lamp. The fiber optic side keeps working in daylight regardless of tritium age.
Mounting
The RMR footprint is the most widely supported pattern for pistol optics, rifle offset mounts and shotgun mounts. This listing does not include a mount. Pair it with an RMR plate for your pistol slide or a Picatinny mount for a rifle. Use thread locker and the correct screw length for your plate.
Ordering and Transfer
When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.
Safe Storage
Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
