Taurus GX2 Light Purple 9mm Compact 13+1 3.37in — Superb Carry Pistol

Description

The Taurus GX2 Light Purple pairs a matte stainless slide with a light purple polymer frame, and it is the two-tone in the GX2 colour range. Taurus catalogues it as 1-GX2939LP: 13+1 rounds of 9mm Luger, a 3.37-inch matte stainless barrel, and a frame carrying a Picatinny rail and textured grip panels.

The GX2 is a good pistol for a new shooter, and that is worth saying plainly. The trigger is consistent, the recoil is mild for a compact, the slide is easy to rack compared with most guns this size, and the price leaves room in the budget for the two things that actually build competence: ammunition and instruction.

MAG5 Firearms has the Taurus GX2 Light Purple in stock. Handguns ship to a licensed FFL on a signed 4473, and we coordinate the transfer with your dealer.

Why this is an easy pistol to learn on

• Thirteen rounds plus one chambered, so a range session runs longer between reloads.
• A grip that is narrow front to back, which suits smaller hands better than most double-stack compacts.
• Consistent striker-fired trigger weight, with no heavy first pull to learn around.
• A 3.37-inch barrel on a frame heavy enough that the Taurus GX2 Light Purple does not snap in the hand.
• Aggressive grip texturing, which lets a lighter grip strength still control the pistol.

Build and finish

• Matte stainless slide and barrel, which resist sweat and humidity better than a coated carbon steel surface.
• Light purple polymer moulded in colour, so a scratch does not show black underneath.
• Front and rear slide serrations for a positive grip when racking or press checking.
• Integral Picatinny rail under the dust cover for a compact weapon light.
• Fixed iron sights, with no optic cut on this model and nothing sitting above the sight line.

Ammunition is the easy part. Every 9mm Luger load from a reputable maker is produced to the chamber and pressure standard published by SAAMI, so practice ball and defensive hollow points both headspace and cycle correctly in this barrel. For a new shooter, buying practice ammunition in bulk is the single best use of the money saved on the pistol. We stock CCI Blazer Brass 9mm by the case and Buffalo Bore 9mm +P for carry.

The same pistol comes in dark purple, cyan and black. Compare the rest of our semi-automatic handguns before deciding.

Why this GX2 earns its place

• The Taurus GX2 Light Purple costs little enough that a first-time buyer can afford a holster, a case of ammunition and a class alongside it.
• Thirteen rounds in a pistol that still conceals under an untucked shirt.
• A stainless slide over colour-through polymer, so neither surface ages badly.
• Magazines and holsters are shared across the GX2 family and widely stocked.
• Taurus backs it with a limited lifetime repair policy that follows the firearm rather than the original buyer.

This is a good first handgun and an honest everyday carry pistol. The Taurus GX2 Light Purple suits a shooter with smaller hands or less grip strength, since the frame is narrow and the slide is among the easier ones to work in this class. It also makes sense in a household with more than one pistol, where an unmistakable frame colour removes any ambiguity about whose gun is whose.
