Description
The Taurus GX2 Cyan is the standard, non-optic build of the GX2 compact in a cyan frame, catalogued by Taurus as 1-GX2931C. A matte black serrated slide sits on a cyan polymer frame, the chambering is 9mm Luger, the magazine holds 13 and the barrel measures 3.37 inches of matte stainless steel.
This is the version of the GX2 for a buyer who has no plans to mount a red dot and would rather not pay for the milling. Everything else carries over from the optic-ready models: the same frame, the same grip texture, the same accessory rail, the same 13+1 capacity in a package short enough to conceal.
MAG5 Firearms has the Taurus GX2 Cyan in stock. Handguns ship to a licensed FFL on a signed 4473, and we coordinate the transfer paperwork with your dealer.
Why the Taurus GX2 Cyan skips the optic cut
- A solid slide costs less, and the Taurus GX2 Cyan puts that saving straight back in your pocket.
- There is no cover plate to loosen and no plate screws to check after a range session.
- A sealed slide keeps lint and water out of a cavity that serves no purpose if you shoot irons.
- Factory iron sights are the whole sighting system here, with nothing sitting above them to obscure the notch.
- For a first handgun, one less variable is worth something. Learn the sights, then decide about a dot later.
Taurus GX2 Cyan frame, grip and carry
- Cyan polymer is molded in color rather than coated, so a scratch does not reveal black underneath.
- The Taurus GX2 Cyan is immediately identifiable in a safe, a bag or a classroom full of black polymer pistols.
- Textured panels across the grip hold the hand in place without abrading a cover garment.
- Integral Picatinny rail under the dust cover for a compact light or laser.
- A 3.37-inch barrel keeps the muzzle short enough for appendix or strong-side carry while holding 13+1 on board.

Ammunition is uncomplicated. Every 9mm Luger load from a reputable maker is produced to the chamber and pressure standard published by SAAMI, so practice ball and defensive hollow points both headspace and cycle correctly in this barrel. We stock CCI Blazer Brass 9mm for volume practice and Buffalo Bore 9mm +P for carry.
If you do want a factory optic cut in the same color, that is the GX2 TORO Cyan. The all-black version without the cut is the standard GX2 Compact. Compare the rest of our semi-automatic handguns before deciding.
Why this GX2 earns its place
- The Taurus GX2 Cyan is one of the least expensive ways to get 13+1 of 9mm in a concealable pistol.
- Color-through polymer holds up better than a painted or coated frame.
- A distinctive frame removes any doubt about which gun is in your hand in a household with more than one.
- Magazines, holsters and light mounts are shared across the whole GX2 line.
- Taurus backs it with a limited lifetime repair policy that follows the firearm rather than the original buyer.
This is a sensible first carry pistol. The Taurus GX2 Cyan costs little enough that the savings go into ammunition, which is what actually builds skill, and the capacity is high enough that it does not feel like a compromise gun. The color is a practical choice as much as a personal one, particularly for anyone storing more than one handgun in the same safe.
Thirteen rounds at this price is the Taurus GX2 Cyan headline
A Taurus GX2 Cyan holds thirteen rounds in a 3.37 inch compact. A great many pistols of this size hold ten or twelve and cost half again as much. That is the entire commercial argument for the GX2 and it is a good one.
What you give up is refinement rather than capability. The trigger is serviceable rather than special, the sights are plain, and the finish on the slide is functional. None of that stops it doing the job; all of it is why the price is what it is. We would rather set that expectation now than have you discover it on the range.
On the color, and who it is for
The Taurus GX2 Cyan is not a tactical color choice and nobody is pretending otherwise. It is a frame color aimed squarely at buyers who are tired of every handgun on the shelf being black, and at households where a visually distinctive gun is genuinely useful for telling one from another.
It also holds its resale rather better than people expect, because the colored GX2 frames are produced in smaller numbers than the black ones. If you want the same pistol in a color nobody will comment on, the standard GX2 Compact is the volume seller and we hold it deepest.
Ammunition for a Taurus GX2 Cyan, and the next purchase
For volume practice, CCI Blazer Brass 115gr is the cheapest way to build the repetitions this trigger needs. For carry, Buffalo Bore 9mm +P 115gr is the serious end; fire enough of it to know the gun cycles it before you trust it, because +P behaves differently from practice ammunition in a short slide.
If you want an optic on it, buy the GX2 TORO in the same cyan instead. This model has no optic cut and adding one is a gunsmithing job rather than a plate purchase. Browse the rest of our handguns category or the wider firearms range.
