NAA The Earl 22 Convertible Revolver Overview
The Earl looks like a scaled-down Civil War era revolver, complete with an octagon barrel and a faux loading lever and pin under the barrel. It holds five rounds and weighs only about 7.75 ounces, built from stainless steel with a rosewood boot grip. The 4 inch barrel gives a longer sight radius and better velocity than NAA’s pocket models, which makes the Earl more pleasant and more accurate to shoot at the range. Swapping between the 22 LR and 22 Magnum cylinders takes about a minute.
Single Action Handling
Like all NAA mini revolvers, the Earl is single action only: you cock the hammer for each shot and remove the cylinder to load and unload. The cylinder has safety notches between chambers so the hammer can rest on a notch instead of a live round. Read the manual and practice the procedure with an unloaded gun before you ever carry it loaded.
Sights and Shooting
A stainless post front sight and fixed rear notch keep the profile clean. The small grip takes some getting used to, and 22 Magnum is noticeably louder and snappier than 22 LR. Use 22 LR for practice and plinking, and save the magnum cylinder for small game or snakes on the trail.
