Description
The Holosun HS515GM Red Micro Dot is a lightweight micro red dot with a red Multi-Reticle System and a quick-detach riser, sized like the classic Aimpoint Micro class. At just 3.74 ounces for the body, it adds very little weight to an AR-15, PCC or shotgun.
Holosun HS515GM Red Micro Dot Overview
Holosun lists the 515GM body at 2.75 by 1.43 by 1.63 inches with a 0.78 inch round window. Windage and elevation adjust 0.5 MOA per click with plus or minus 50 MOA of travel. The 650nm red Super LED offers 12 brightness levels, including night vision settings, with both manual and automatic modes. Holosun’s page disagrees with itself on housing material and solar, so we only list the features that are consistent.
Circle-Dot or Dot
The MRS gives you a 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA circle, or the two combined. Use the circle-dot for fast shooting at close range and on shotguns, where the large ring approximates a pattern. Use the dot alone for zeroing and accurate shooting at 100 yards. The sight remembers your last reticle and brightness.
Battery and Shake Awake
A tool-less side tray holds the battery, so changing it does not mean removing the optic or the riser. Holosun rates battery life at up to 50,000 hours at setting 6. Shake Awake switches the LED off after the rifle sits still and back on the moment it moves, which is how a defensive rifle can stay ready for months on one battery.
Quick-Detach Riser
The QD lever mount positions the dot at 1.63 inches over the rail, a lower 1/3 co-witness with standard AR-15 iron sights. The lever lets you pull the optic for cleaning or to swap optics and return it close to zero. On low-rail shotguns and rimfires, confirm the height suits your cheek weld.
Light and Compact
Because it is so light and short, the 515GM is a natural fit for lightweight carbines, PCCs and tactical shotguns where you do not want extra weight on top of the receiver. It also leaves room on the rail for a magnifier. For a larger window, the HE530G or AEMS family offer more view at more weight.
