Description

The Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot pairs the four element Competition Reticle System with a gold emitter. A 2 MOA dot with selectable 8, 20 and 32 MOA circles, at 590nm, in the largest window Holosun puts on a 507. Part HS507COMP-GD.

Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot

A Busy Reticle Needs The Right Colour

Here is a problem nobody warns you about with reticles like the one in the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot with multi element reticles. A circle has vastly more illuminated area than a dot, so a ring bright enough to see is a ring that throws a lot of light into your eye, and at that brightness the line gets thick and soft and starts to bloom.

Colour is how you fix it. Gold at 590nm sits near the efficient part of the visible spectrum and reads with high contrast against most backgrounds, which means you can run the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot several clicks dimmer than a red equivalent and still see it clearly. A dimmer ring is a thinner, crisper ring, and on a reticle with three of them that is the difference between a precision instrument and a bright orange mess.

One Optic, Three Disciplines

The Competition Reticle System in the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot is really three sights in one housing, and each configuration suits a different kind of shooting.

Bare 2 MOA dot: bullseye, slow fire, anything where the only thing that matters is where the round lands. The 8 MOA circle around it: a tight reference that helps your eye centre without covering the target, which suits small steel at distance. The 32 MOA circle: close, fast, multiple targets, where finding the reticle is the whole job. Switch between them on the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot and nothing needs re-zeroing, because every element comes from the same emitter.

The Circles Are Also A Range Card

Each circle on the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot subtends a known angle, so each one measures. The 8 MOA ring covers roughly two inches at twenty five yards, the 20 covers five, and the 32 covers eight. An eight inch plate that exactly fills the 32 MOA circle is therefore at twenty five yards, and the same plate sitting inside the 20 is further out.

Learn those three relationships and the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot hands you distance without a rangefinder and without taking the gun off target. That is the practical reason competition shooters accept a more complicated reticle than they strictly need.

Why The Window Is 1.1 Inches

The glass on the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot measures 1.1 by 0.87 inches, the largest Holosun fits to a 507. That is a requirement rather than a luxury. A 32 MOA circle squeezed into a small window touches the frame, and a ring you cannot see all of stops being a ring you can measure with.

Given proper room, the circles sit inside the frame with space around them and read as circles rather than as the border of the sight. Multi coated glass keeps the picture bright and neutral, and at 1x with unlimited eye relief and no parallax you shoot it with both eyes open.

One Number To Check Before Ordering

Adjustment travel on the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot is 30 MOA in each direction, not the 50 MOA the standard 507C carries. On a slide cut that is true to spec you will never approach the limit.

Mounted through a stacked adapter plate on a pistol that already points slightly off, it is less headroom than you may be used to, and discovering that halfway through zeroing is a bad afternoon. If you are going through a plate, or a previous optic fought you on that gun, tell us before you order the Holosun HS507COMP Gold Dot and we will check the numbers with you.
