Description

The Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot is the competition build of the 507 line, and the first thing you notice is the window. At 1.1 by 0.87 inches the objective lens is enormous by pistol optic standards, which is exactly what a shooter working a stage or a shot timer wants. Part 507Comp-GR.

Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot

A Bigger Window Is A Faster Window

Finding the dot is the entire learning curve of a pistol optic, and the Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot attacks it directly. A small window punishes an imperfect presentation, because if the gun comes up a few degrees off the reticle is simply not in the glass and you have to hunt for it.

A large window forgives that. The dot is already somewhere in view, your eye catches it, and the gun corrects to it rather than you correcting to the gun. That is the whole argument for the Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot over a carry sized optic, and it is why competition shooters pay for glass they do not strictly need.

The Competition Reticle System Has Four Parts

Holosun replaced the usual Multi Reticle System on the Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot with CRS on this optic, and it is a meaningful upgrade. Instead of one ring and one dot you get four elements: a precision 2 MOA dot, an 8 MOA circle, a 20 MOA circle and a 32 MOA circle, with multiple combinations available.

Those circles are not decoration, they are a ranging and holdover tool. A known circle diameter subtends a known width at a known distance, so a shooter who learns the 8, 20 and 32 MOA rings on the Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot has a built in way to judge target size and hold for distance without ever taking the gun off target. Pick the combination that suits the stage, or the one that suits your eyes, and leave it.

Why Green

The Green Super LED in the Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot is the other half of the story. Human vision peaks in the green part of the spectrum, so a green reticle appears brighter than a red one at identical output. On a competition clock that means the reticle cuts through a bright bay, a white wall or a sunlit berm instead of washing into it.

Green also draws less current for the same perceived brightness, which is part of how the Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot still reaches up to 50,000 hours of runtime on a single CR1632 cell. Shake Awake handles the rest, powering the sight down when the gun sits and bringing it back the instant you pick it up.

Industry Standard Footprint Means It Fits What You Own

The Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot uses the industry standard 507C footprint, the most widely supported pattern in the pistol optic world. Most optics ready slides, and nearly every adapter plate manufacturer, already account for it. If you are coming off another 507C sized optic, this drops into the same holes.

The housing is 7075 aluminum, the harder alloy Holosun reserves for the sights meant to take abuse, so the large window does not come at the cost of a fragile body.

Specifications

Setting Up The Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot

Mount it, torque the screws to Holosun specification, and zero at the distance you actually shoot. Twenty five yards is the sensible default for a pistol optic because it puts your point of impact close enough at every practical distance inside that, and the adjustment turrets on the Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot move in clean, audible clicks so you are not guessing at half a click.

Then pick your reticle and stop fiddling. The temptation with a four element system is to change it every range trip, but the ranging value of the circles only exists if you know them cold. Choose the combination that your eye picks up fastest, shoot it for a season, and the subtensions become instinct rather than arithmetic.

Brightness is worth a moment too. Most shooters run a red dot far brighter than they need, which blooms the reticle and costs precision. Set the Holosun HE507 Comp Green Dot one or two clicks brighter than the point where the dot first becomes clearly visible against your target, not at maximum, and the dot stays a crisp 2 MOA instead of a fuzzy blob.
