Description
The Holosun HE510C Green Dot is the green reticle version of Holosun’s large open reflex rifle sight. A 2 MOA dot inside a 65 MOA circle at 540nm, a titanium hood over the glass, solar failsafe, and a quick detach Picatinny mount. Part HE510C-GR.

Green Matters More On A Rifle Than A Pistol
The Holosun HE510C Green Dot emits at 540nm, almost exactly where human daylight vision peaks, so a green reticle reads brighter to the eye than a red one producing the same actual light. That is true on any optic. What makes it matter more on a long gun is where long guns get pointed.
A pistol is usually shot at a range, on paper or steel, against a backdrop somebody chose. A rifle gets shot at brush, timber, dirt berms, tan steel and cover, which is precisely the family of warm, mid tone backgrounds that swallow a red dot. The Holosun HE510C Green Dot holds contrast against all of them, and on a 2 MOA reticle with very little area to be seen with, that margin is the difference between finding the dot and hunting for it.
The Honest Counter Argument
Green on the Holosun HE510C Green Dot is not a free upgrade and we would rather you hear the other half from us. Against grass, foliage and green painted steel, green is the colour that loses contrast and red would serve you better. If your rifle lives on a range shooting white and painted plate, red is also more electrically efficient for the same perceived brightness.
So the question is not which colour is better, it is what you point the rifle at. Timber, brush, dirt and tan: the Holosun HE510C Green Dot is the right choice. Grass, green steel, a manicured range: look at the red 510C instead and we will not think less of you for it.
A Tall Window, On Purpose
The Holosun HE510C Green Dot window is 0.91 by 1.26 inches, taller than it is wide, and that orientation is the right one for a long gun. A rifle is shot from a repeatable cheek weld, so the reticle is rarely lost sideways. It is lost vertically, when your head comes up high or drops low because the position is awkward or the shot is hurried.
Vertical window buys that back. Bring the gun up and the dot on the Holosun HE510C Green Dot is already in the glass rather than somewhere above or below it, which is what makes a big reflex sight feel fast in a way the specification sheet never explains.
Titanium Hood And An MAO Finish
An open reflex sight stands its lens up in the air with nothing in front of it, and on a rifle that gets slung, set down on tailgates and pushed through doorways the lens is the vulnerable part. The Holosun HE510C Green Dot puts a titanium protective hood over it to take the hit instead.
The Holosun HE510C Green Dot aluminum body is finished in MAO, micro arc oxidation, rather than ordinary anodising. MAO grows a harder and more corrosion resistant surface, which is what belongs on a housing expected to be struck. Rated IP67 for dust and immersion and tested to 5000G of vibration.
Multi Reticle, Solar Failsafe, Half MOA Clicks
The Holosun HE510C Green Dot gives a 2 MOA dot alone, a 65 MOA circle alone, or the circle with the dot inside it, all from one emitter so switching never moves your point of impact. Close in the ring is the thing your eye catches instantly; at distance the dot is what you aim with and the ring becomes a rough ranging reference at a known sixty five MOA.
A solar panel on top of the Holosun HE510C Green Dot harvests ambient light and keeps the sight running if the CR2032 dies or is removed. The cell is rated 50,000 hours at setting six, Shake Awake sleeps the optic when the rifle is still, and adjustments move 0.5 MOA per click across 50 MOA of travel each way, which is fine enough to actually zero rather than approximate. Ten daylight settings and two night vision settings.
Weight, Said Plainly
The Holosun HE510C Green Dot weighs 4.94 ounces and measures 3.3 by 1.68 by 1.78 inches. That is substantial for a red dot and it is the cost of the big window and the titanium hood. On an AR or a defensive shotgun it disappears. On a lightweight build where every ounce has been argued over it will not, and a smaller enclosed sight is the better answer. We would rather say that now than after it arrives.

Ordering
Manufacturer specifications are published at Holosun. We are a family owned FFL dealer in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and we will tell you when red would suit your backgrounds better than green rather than sell you the one with the longer description. The red and FDE versions are both in our optics selection.
