Description
The Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo pairs the big 510C open reflex sight with the HM3X three power magnifier, bought together. A 2 MOA dot inside a 65 MOA circle, a titanium hood over the glass, solar failsafe, and 3x behind it when you want reach. Part HS510C and HM3X.

What A Magnifier Actually Buys You
A red dot without the magnifier in the Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo has no magnification, which means past a couple of hundred yards your reticle covers more of the target than you would like and identifying what you are looking at becomes guesswork. That is the limit, and no amount of glass quality moves it.
The HM3X sits behind the sight and flips out of the way when you do not want it. At three power the target is three times larger while the 2 MOA dot stays 2 MOA, so you gain target detail and precision without changing the zero, the sight picture or anything else. The Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo gives you a close quarters optic and an intermediate range one on the same rail, switched with a thumb.
Why 2 MOA Is The Right Dot Behind Glass
Dot size is the specification people get wrong when they skip the Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo when they buy a magnifier later and bolt it behind whatever sight they already own. A reticle subtends a fixed angle, so magnification enlarges the target and the dot equally.
A 6 MOA dot seen through three power covers as much of the target as an 18 MOA dot would at 1x, which throws away most of what the magnifier gave you. The 2 MOA dot in the Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo stays a fine aiming point at 3x, which is exactly why Holosun packaged these two together rather than leaving you to discover the problem after the fact.
The Circle Still Works Up Close
Flip the Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo magnifier aside and you are back to a 65 MOA ring around a 2 MOA dot in a 0.91 by 1.26 inch window. The ring is the thing your eye catches instantly at contact distance, which is what makes a big reflex sight fast in a way no specification explains.
You can also run the Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo as a bare dot or a bare circle. All three reticles come from the same emitter, so switching never moves your point of impact and there is nothing to re-zero. Sixty five MOA is also a known angular size, so the ring doubles as a rough ranging reference against a target whose size you know.
Titanium Over The Glass
An open reflex sight stands its lens up in the air with nothing in front of it, and on a rifle that gets slung, set down on tailgates and pushed through doorways the lens is the vulnerable part. The Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo puts a titanium protective hood over it to take the hit instead.
The aluminum body is finished in MAO, micro arc oxidation, which grows a harder and more corrosion resistant surface than ordinary anodising. Rated IP67 for dust and immersion and tested to 5000G of vibration, which is the figure that matters on a gun that reciprocates.
Solar Failsafe And Half MOA Clicks
A solar panel on top of the Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo harvests ambient light and will keep the sight running if the CR2032 dies or is removed. The cell is rated 50,000 hours at brightness setting six, and Shake Awake sleeps the optic when the rifle is still, so the practical runtime is far longer than the number suggests.
Adjustments on the Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo move 0.5 MOA per click across 50 MOA of travel in each direction. Half MOA clicks are finer than the category standard and they matter more behind a magnifier, because 3x makes visible the zeroing errors a 1x sight hides. Ten daylight brightness settings and two night vision settings, with automatic brightness, manual override and lockout.
Worth Saying About Weight And Length
The Holosun HS510C HM3X Combo sight alone weighs 4.94 ounces and measures 3.3 by 1.68 by 1.78 inches, and the magnifier adds its own weight and length behind it. That is a substantial amount of hardware on a top rail, and it is the honest cost of having both capabilities on one gun.
On an AR carbine it is entirely reasonable and thousands of people run exactly this arrangement. On a lightweight build, or a rifle where rail space behind the optic is already spoken for, measure before you buy. We would rather you find that out here than after it arrives.
