Description

The Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round is GLOCK’s crossover duty pistol brought into the sixth generation: a full-length G17 grip frame paired with the shorter 4.02-inch G19 slide. That combination gives you a full firing grip and full magazine capacity while shortening the part of the gun that has to clear a holster or a seatbelt. Every Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round ships with three magazines and the complete optic plate set. MAG5 Firearms stocks it as GLOCK item U64550201, UPC 764503074141.

What Actually Changed in the Sixth Generation

Gen6 is not a cosmetic refresh. The headline change on the Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round is the Gen6 optics ready system, which replaces the older MOS plate arrangement with a deeper, direct-mount cut. Three interchangeable plates ship in the box, covering the Trijicon RMR, the Shield / DeltaPoint / Holosun K, and the C-More footprints. Because the optic screws closer to the slide, height over bore drops slightly, which shortens the holdover you need at close range on the Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round.

The trigger is the second real change. A flat faced trigger is now standard rather than an aftermarket swap, and the trigger guard is undercut so the hand sits higher on the frame. Pull weight is still advertised around 5.5 pounds and the three internal Safe Action safeties are unchanged, so the manual of arms you already know still applies to the Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round.

The frame carries the new RTF6 texture, an integrated palm swell developed from scans of hundreds of shooters, thumb rests on both sides, an enlarged beavertail and a flared magwell. Slide serrations are cut deeper and front serrations are standard, which matters more than it sounds if you press-check the Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round with cold or wet hands.

Why the Crossover Layout Still Works

A 9mm crossover pistol solves a specific problem. A full-size grip gives you the third finger and the leverage to control recoil; a compact slide keeps the muzzle from printing when you bend or sit. The Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round measures 7.44 inches overall and weighs about 1.32 pounds unloaded, which is close to a G19 in carry terms while handling like a G17 on the range.

Magazine compatibility is the quiet advantage. The Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round takes Gen5 G17 magazines, so 17-round and extended magazines drop in flush without adapters, and most Gen5 holsters fit the Gen6 slide. If you already run GLOCK, very little of your existing kit becomes obsolete when you move to the Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round.

Range behaviour is what you would expect from the platform. The same Marksman rifled barrel carries over from Gen5, and the added grip surface plus the flat faced trigger keep follow-up shots flatter than a Gen5 G19 for most shooters. Recoil with 115 and 124 grain practice ammunition is mild, and the flared magwell makes reloads noticeably more forgiving under a timer.

Honest Caveats Before You Buy

This is the ten-round version. It exists because several states cap magazine capacity, and if you do not live in one of them you are paying full price for less capacity than the gun was designed to carry. The upside is compatibility: a Pennsylvania buyer can run the Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round on 17-round Gen5 magazines day to day and keep the ten-rounders for travel or for ranges with capacity rules.

The optic plates are polymer. GLOCK’s engineering case is that the plate locates and clamps while the screws carry the load, but shooters coming from steel plates should treat plate torque as a maintenance item and check it periodically rather than assuming it is fit-and-forget. Confirm your optic footprint against the three supplied plates before ordering a red dot for the Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round.

Holster availability is good but not universal. Most Gen5 G19-slide holsters work, yet some light-bearing designs cut for a specific weapon light will not clear the Gen6 frame’s enlarged beavertail. Check with your holster maker before you buy the Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round a rig, particularly for appendix carry where fit tolerances are tight.

The sights are the last honest note. Standard GLOCK polymer sights are serviceable and nothing more. If this Glock 45 Gen6 9mm 10 Round is going to be carried rather than shot on a range, budget for steel or tritium sights up front and have them installed at the same time as the optic.

Who it suits: duty and home-defence users who want one pistol that shoots like a full-size and carries like a compact, GLOCK owners upgrading from a Gen5 who want the Gen6 optics ready system and flat faced trigger without relearning the gun, and shooters in capacity-restricted states who need a compliant pistol out of the box.
