Description

Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Sonora Ambush camo 7mm PRC rifle with smoked bronze action, 20 inch C3 carbon barrel and adjustable comb carbon stock

The Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Sonora is the short-barreled member of the Rival XP family, running a 20 inch C3 carbon fiber barrel in 7mm PRC. It wears the Sonora Ambush camo stock against a smoked bronze action, holds 3+1, and starts at 6.3 pounds with the same half MOA accuracy guarantee Fierce puts on the rest of the line.

Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Sonora and the 20 Inch Barrel

Twenty inches in a 7mm PRC is a deliberate trade. You give up somewhere around 80 to 100 feet per second against a 22 inch tube, and in exchange you get a rifle that is genuinely handy in timber, easy to get in and out of a saddle scabbard or a truck, and much more reasonable once a suppressor goes on the threads. For most hunting inside 600 yards that velocity difference is not something you will see on paper or on game.

The barrel itself is Fierce C3 match grade carbon, a steel core wrapped in carbon fiber, with a 1:8 twist for the long high-BC bullets 7mm PRC is built around. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 with the Fierce NIX brake installed, and the brake does real work on a rifle this light.

Sonora Ambush Camo and the Smoked Bronze Action

Sonora Ambush is the tan-dominant pattern in the Rival lineup, built around desert and sage tones rather than the greys of Phantom or the greens of Forest. In open western country, sagebrush, and high desert it breaks up the rifle outline far better than a dark pattern would.

The smoked bronze action finish is a warm brown-grey rather than a bright metallic, which keeps it from flashing in sunlight and ties it visually to the stock. It is a Cerakote finish, so it handles sweat, salt, and abrasion much better than bluing on a rifle that lives outdoors.

Action, Trigger, and Stock Features

The action is a dual-lug stainless design with a 70 degree bolt throw and a spiral fluted, DLC coated bolt. It is drilled and tapped for standard bases and feeds from the XP detachable magazine box, which is AICS compatible. The trigger is a TriggerTech Primary Pro Curved set at 2.5 pounds from the factory and adjustable between roughly 1.5 and 4 pounds.

The stock is 100 percent carbon fiber with an LR negative comb, a push-button adjustable cheek rest, and integrated ARCA and Picatinny rails along the forend. The ARCA rail is the feature most worth having: a bipod or tripod clamp slides anywhere along the forend and locks down without adapters or stud fiddling.

Why Buyers Choose the Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Sonora

This is the configuration to pick if you plan to hunt suppressed. A 20 inch barrel plus a can lands at roughly the overall length of a 26 inch unsuppressed rifle, which is manageable. It is also the easiest Rival XP to carry and the quickest to get on target in tight country, and it gives up very little to the longer barrels at realistic hunting distances.

Who Should Buy It

The Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Sonora suits hunters who want one rifle for both timber and open country, anyone running a suppressor, and shooters who value handling over the last hundred feet per second. The ARCA rail and adjustable comb still make it a capable long range setup. If you shoot mostly past 700 yards or want every bit of velocity 7mm PRC can produce, the 22 or 24 inch versions will serve you better.
