Description

Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Phantom camo 7mm PRC rifle with tungsten action, C3 carbon fiber barrel and adjustable comb carbon stock

The Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Phantom is the tungsten-and-Phantom-camo version of Fierce full-carbon long range hunting rifle, chambered here in 7mm PRC with a 22 inch barrel. Phantom is the darker, low-contrast pattern in the Rival lineup, built around greys and blacks rather than tan, and it pairs with a Glacier tungsten action rather than a black or bronze one.

Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Phantom Barrel and Weight

Everything forward of the receiver is built to save weight without giving up stiffness. The 22 inch C3 match grade barrel is a steel core wrapped in carbon fiber, and the rifle starts at 6.3 pounds complete. That is roughly two pounds under a conventional steel-barreled magnum, and it is the kind of difference you notice on the third mile rather than the first.

The twist is 1:8, which is what 7mm PRC needs to stabilize the long 175 to 180 grain bullets the cartridge was designed around. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and comes with the Fierce NIX brake fitted, which takes a genuine bite out of the recoil a six-pound magnum would otherwise deliver.

Why Phantom Camo

Camo pattern choice on a rifle is usually treated as cosmetic, and mostly it is, but Phantom has a practical argument behind it. The greys and blacks break up the outline of the rifle in rock, shale, and dead timber far better than a tan-dominant pattern does, and it does not glow in low light the way lighter patterns can at dawn and dusk.

The Glacier tungsten action finish that comes with it is a light grey rather than a stark silver, so the whole rifle reads as one piece rather than a two-tone. If you hunt above treeline or in country that is more rock than brush, this is the combination to pick.

Action, Trigger, and the XP 2.0 Stock

The action is a dual-lug stainless design with a 70 degree bolt lift and a spiral fluted, DLC coated bolt that runs smoothly with minimal lubrication. The receiver is drilled and tapped for standard bases, and feeding is handled by the XP detachable magazine box, which is AICS compatible and holds three rounds.

The trigger is a TriggerTech Primary Pro Curved at 2.5 pounds from the factory, adjustable roughly between 1.5 and 4 pounds. The stock is 100 percent carbon fiber with an integrated ARCA rail and Picatinny section on the forend and a push-button adjustable cheek rest, so a bipod or tripod clamp slides anywhere along the forend and the comb height sets up correctly behind a large scope.

Why Buyers Choose the Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Phantom

The short version is that this rifle does two jobs that normally require two rifles. It carries like a mountain rifle and it sets up like a precision rifle, with an ARCA rail and an adjustable comb that most lightweight hunting rifles simply do not offer. The half MOA guarantee is in writing, and 7mm PRC gives it the reach to make that accuracy matter.

Who Should Buy It

The Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 Phantom suits backcountry hunters in high, open, rocky country where a dark pattern disappears and a light one does not. It also suits anyone who shoots off a tripod, since the ARCA rail removes the usual fumbling with stud adapters. If you hunt green timber or agricultural country, the Forest or Sonora patterns will blend better, and if your shots are all inside 200 yards you do not need this much rifle.
