Description
The Beretta 92FS INOX is the stainless version of the full-size 92 series, and this listing covers part number JS92F510CA, the California roster build with a ten round magazine. Inox is Beretta’s term for its stainless configuration: a stainless steel barrel, a stainless steel slide, and a matching satin-finished aluminum frame rather than the matte black Bruniton coating on the standard gun.
Beyond the finish, this build adds a beavertail at the rear of the frame and black stippled rubber grip panels in place of the usual checkered polymer.
Stainless is about more than appearance
A coated carbon steel slide protects the metal underneath as long as the coating survives. Scrape through it at a holster wear point and the exposed steel is on its own. Stainless carries its corrosion resistance through the entire thickness of the material, so a scuffed edge or a worn muzzle does not become a rust problem later. For anyone carrying in humidity, working around salt water, or storing a pistol in an unheated space, that difference is worth the price gap.
The satin finish also hides wear far better than a matte black coating, which shows every bright edge. An Inox 92FS that has lived in a holster for ten years still looks presentable in a way that a black gun with the same history does not.
Beavertail, grips, and the roster requirements
The beavertail extension at the top rear of the frame gives the web of the shooting hand a defined place to sit and keeps the hammer clear on the way back. Combined with the stippled rubber grip panels, it makes for a noticeably more secure hold than the flat-backed original, particularly with wet hands.
As a roster-compliant build, the pistol carries a loaded chamber indicator and ships with ten round magazines. Nothing in that requirement touches the trigger group, the barrel, or the slide, so the shooting experience is identical to any other 92FS. Buyers outside California often choose this configuration anyway, simply because they want the stainless and the beavertail.

Why it is worth considering
- Corrosion resistance that runs through the material rather than sitting on top of it.
- A beavertail frame that improves the hold and protects the shooting hand.
- Rubber grip panels with real texture, which matter more than most buyers expect in the rain.
- The same open slide reliability and soft recoil impulse as every other full-size 92.
- A finish that ages gracefully instead of going bright at every contact point.
Who it suits
This is a strong choice for a coastal shooter, a boat or truck gun that lives in changing temperatures, or anyone who simply wants the 92 platform in stainless. It works as a home defense pistol, a range gun, and a duty pistol where hammer-fired designs are permitted. The ten round magazines make it a poor fit for competition, and at 33 ounces with a 1.5 inch width it is not a concealment pistol for most people. If you want stainless in something smaller, look at a compact.
If you want a full-size 9mm that will outlast you, this is a serious candidate.

Ammunition, care, and transfer notes
The 9x19mm Luger chambering is standardized by SAAMI, so any factory load built to those specifications will feed and cycle. For volume practice we stock 115 grain brass-cased range ammunition. Stainless does not mean maintenance free: it resists rust, it does not refuse it. Wipe the gun down after handling, keep a light film of oil on the slide rails, and pay attention to the locking block and the underside of the barrel where powder residue collects.
Higher capacity 92 series magazines fit this frame where local law allows them. If you want a heavier slide for high round counts, compare the 92FS Brigadier, and anyone planning to run a red dot should start with the factory-milled 92X Performance Carry Optic rather than modifying this slide. Every handgun we sell ships to a licensed FFL for transfer and background check, and Pennsylvania buyers should plan on the state point of contact check at pickup.
