Description
The Barnes VOR-TX 7mm Rem Mag 140gr TTSX BT is the standard line copper load for the most popular 7mm magnum in the world. It leaves the muzzle at roughly 3100 fps carrying about 2988 ft-lbs of energy, behind a 0.412 ballistic coefficient. For mule deer and elk in the mountains, at the ranges most people actually shoot, it is plenty of cartridge. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX 7mm Rem Mag 140gr TTSX BT Overview
The projectile is machined from a solid copper billet, so there is no lead core to shed and no jacket to separate. A polymer tip caps the hollow nose, protects it in the magazine and drives rearward on impact to start expansion immediately.
The nose opens into four sharp copper petals at roughly double the original diameter and stays attached to the shank, with weight retention close to 100 percent. That is what allows a 140 grain bullet to be trusted on elk at sensible range.
140 Grain TTSX Boat Tail Performance
A straight comparison is worth having. We also stock the 139 grain LRX from the Long Range line, and it beats this load on both counts: 3210 fps and a 0.470 ballistic coefficient. The LRX also opens at much lower impact velocity, which extends its useful range considerably.
This 140 grain TTSX is the standard line option at a lower price, and inside 400 yards the difference between the two on game is academic. If most of your shooting is mountain country at ordinary distance, this is the sensible buy; if you expect long shots, the LRX earns its premium.
Why Hunters Choose 7mm Remington Magnum Hunting Ammo
The 7mm Remington Magnum has been the Western hunter default since 1962. It fits a standard length magnum action, shoots flat enough that holdover rarely decides a shot, recoils less than a 300 magnum, and every sporting goods store in the country stocks it.
What this 7mm Remington Magnum hunting ammo adds is a modern bullet in that proven package. A great deal of 7mm Mag ammunition is still loaded with designs from the 1970s, and on a quartering elk the difference between those and a monolithic copper bullet is not subtle.
Barrel life is good, running into the thousands of rounds, and the cartridge does not burn the powder a 7mm Ultra Mag does. For most hunters it remains the more sensible of the two.

Range Notes For This Polymer Tipped Copper Bullet
A polymer tipped copper bullet prints to a different point of impact than the lead core ammunition your rifle was probably sighted in with. Zero with this exact load, foul a clean barrel with a round or two first, then leave the scope alone.
Twist rate is not a concern. Most 7mm Remington Magnum barrels run 1 in 9 or 1 in 9.5, and both handle a 140 grain copper bullet without difficulty.
At 3100 fps the Barnes VOR-TX 7mm Rem Mag 140gr TTSX has velocity to spare and stays above reliable expansion speed past 450 yards in most barrels. Store the ammunition cool and dry so your zero holds season to season.
