Description
The Barnes VOR-TX 7mm Rem Mag 139gr LRX BT pairs the most popular 7mm magnum in the world with a bullet built for distance. An all copper LRX leaves the muzzle at roughly 3210 fps carrying about 3181 ft-lbs, behind a 0.470 ballistic coefficient. The 7mm Remington Magnum has been a Western hunting standard since 1962, and this load extends what it can do without asking anything new of the rifle. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX 7mm Rem Mag 139gr LRX BT Overview
The LRX is the long range member of the Barnes copper family, built with a deeper hollow cavity beneath the polymer tip so it opens at considerably lower impact velocities, down around 1600 fps rather than the 2000 or so a standard copper hunting bullet requires.
That is the constraint that actually governs a copper bullet at distance. Trajectory is a solved problem with any ballistic solver; a bullet arriving too slowly to peel back into petals is not. The LRX design is what pushes that boundary out to a genuinely useful range.
139 Grain LRX Boat Tail Performance
At 139 grains this is on the light side for a 7mm hunting bullet, and the trade is intentional. Less mass buys velocity, and a monolithic copper bullet penetrates far beyond what its weight suggests, so the usual objection to a light bullet on elk does not really apply here.
Barnes machines relief grooves into the bearing surface of the Barnes VOR-TX 7mm Rem Mag 139gr LRX projectile. The grooves reduce bore contact, lowering pressure and cutting copper fouling, which helps a long solid bullet shoot well out of an ordinary factory barrel.
Why Hunters Choose 7mm Remington Magnum Long Range Ammo
The 7mm Remington Magnum has been the Western hunter default for sixty years and the reasons have not changed. It fits a standard length magnum action, shoots flat enough that holdover is rarely the limiting factor, recoils less than a 300 magnum, and every sporting goods store in the country stocks it.
What this 7mm Remington Magnum long range ammo adds is a bullet that keeps working at the distances the cartridge makes possible. A lot of 7mm Mag ammunition is still loaded with designs from the 1970s, and the gap between those and a modern copper bullet on a quartering elk is not subtle.
Barrel life is good, running into the thousands of rounds, and the cartridge does not burn the powder a 7mm Ultra Mag does. For most hunters it remains the more sensible of the two.

Range Notes For This All Copper Big Game Bullet
Most 7mm Remington Magnum barrels run 1 in 9 or 1 in 9.5, and both stabilize a 139 grain copper bullet without difficulty. If your rifle is older or unusual, confirm with a group at your longest expected distance.
An all copper big game bullet prints to a different point of impact than the lead core ammunition your rifle was likely sighted in with. Zero with this exact load, foul a clean barrel with a round or two first, then leave the scope alone.
Chronograph your rifle before shooting past 400 yards. Published velocity comes from a test barrel, and a 24 inch sporter often runs under it. The Barnes VOR-TX 7mm Rem Mag 139gr LRX stays above its expansion threshold past 700 yards from a full length barrel.
Lead Free Elk And Deer Ammunition Availability
