Description
The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 4.25 MOS comp is the mid-length double stack with a factory compensator and a matte DLC finish. Frame, slide and bull ramped barrel are SUS416 stainless under the coating, capacity is 20+1 of 9mm, and the slide is cut for the MOS adapter system so a red dot mounts without a dedicated slide.
Compensated at the Most Useful Length
4.25-inch bull ramped barrel with a compensator fitted at the factory.
Enough barrel for a usable sight radius, short enough that the gun still conceals under a jacket.
The comp gives the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 4.25 MOS comp a flatter return than an uncompensated pistol of the same length.
Matte DLC over SUS416 stainless on frame and slide, which cuts glare compared with a polished finish.
Optic System, Controls and Capacity
MOS adapter cut supports the RMR and the RMSc footprints, covering most red dots on the market.
Fully ambidextrous controls, so left-handed shooters are not working around the gun.
Polymer grip module over a steel double-stack frame, with a flared magwell.
Serrated slide, extended beavertail and a Picatinny accessory rail.
Part number AA39X1CIG-XDBK19.

Matte versus polished is a practical question more than an aesthetic one. Polished DLC throws a bright line down the flats of the slide, which looks striking on a table and can catch the eye badly under range lights or low sun. Matte scatters that light. The coating is the same underneath, with the same hardness and the same corrosion resistance, so nothing mechanical is traded either way.
Why it is worth considering
- Factory compensator on the most versatile barrel length.
- 20+1 capacity with 1911 trigger geometry.
- Matte DLC finish with no bright edges.
- MOS cut covers both common optic footprints.
- Ambidextrous controls and a flared magwell as standard.
Who it suits
This configuration fits the shooter who wants one gun for carry, range and club matches. The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 4.25 MOS comp gives up very little at either end of that range. A compensator does vent gas and noise to the sides, so put a few hundred rounds through it before deciding whether it earns a place on the nightstand.

Related Romulus Configurations
Alpha Foxtrot builds the Romulus in 3.5-inch, 4.25-inch and 5-inch lengths, in matte or polished DLC, with a MOS adapter cut or a direct RMSc cut, and with plain, threaded or compensated barrels. The 4.25-inch promo package is this same pistol bundled with five magazines and a case. If you want the polished finish, compare the polished compensated build; for a plain muzzle, see the 4.25-inch bull barrel model. Model details are published at Alpha Foxtrot.
Heavier bullets make more gas and work a compensator harder, so 124-grain and 147-grain loads flatten the gun better than light target ammunition. A 124-grain jacketed hollow point is a sound defensive round, with 115-grain full metal jacket for practice volume. All firearm orders ship to a licensed FFL dealer for transfer, and MAG5 Firearms will coordinate the paperwork with the dealer of your choice.
One holster note: a compensator adds length and width past the slide, and most off-the-shelf kydex for a 4.25-inch 2011 will not clear it. Holster makers cut comp-compatible shells on request, so mention the compensator when ordering rather than assuming a standard model will fit.
