Description
The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 4.25 bull is the straightforward version of the mid-length Romulus: no compensator, no threads, just a bull ramped barrel and a satin DLC finish over SUS416 stainless steel. Capacity is 20+1 in 9mm. For a lot of shooters this is the right starting point, because nothing hangs off the muzzle to complicate a holster.
A Plain Muzzle and a Bull Barrel
4.25-inch bull ramped barrel, black finished, with no compensator and no threads to catch on a holster mouth.
The bull profile puts more steel around the bore near the muzzle, which adds a little front-end weight and helps the gun settle.
Because the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 4.25 bull carries nothing past the slide, overall length stays short for the barrel it has.
Satin DLC over SUS416 stainless on frame and slide, hard and corrosion resistant without the glare of a polished finish.
Optic Ready and Built to Run
MOS adapter cut supports the RMR and the RMSc footprints, covering most red dots without a special slide.
Serrated slide with front and rear serrations, extended beavertail and a Picatinny accessory rail.
Polymer grip module over the steel double-stack frame, the 2011 layout behind the capacity.
Ships with 17-round and 20-round magazines.
Part number AA39X1CID-XDBK19.

There is a good argument for buying the plain version first. A compensator changes how a gun sounds, how it holsters and how much gas comes back at the shooter, and not everyone likes it. Threads add a protector that can work loose. Starting with a bare muzzle means the pistol fits every holster cut for a 4.25-inch 2011, and the barrel can always be swapped later if a comp turns out to be worth it.
Why it is worth considering
- Plain muzzle fits standard holsters with no extra clearance needed.
- 20+1 capacity with 1911 trigger geometry.
- Satin DLC finish resists corrosion without glare.
- MOS cut supports both common optic footprints.
- Two magazines included, 17-round and 20-round.
Who it suits
New double-stack 1911 buyers and anyone who carries daily will be best served here. The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 4.25 bull is also the easiest version to holster, since no compensator or thread protector extends past the slide. Shooters chasing the flattest possible recovery on a timer should look at the compensated builds instead.

Choosing Between Romulus Builds
Alpha Foxtrot offers the Romulus in 3.5-inch, 4.25-inch and 5-inch lengths, in satin or polished DLC, with a MOS adapter cut or a direct RMSc cut, and with plain, threaded or compensated barrels. If you want threads on this same length, see the 4.25-inch threaded model; for a factory comp, compare the polished compensated build. At full size the 5-inch DLC black keeps the same plain-muzzle simplicity. Model details are published at Alpha Foxtrot.
Without a compensator the gun is less sensitive to ammunition choice, so ordinary 115-grain practice loads run it fine. Keep a defensive load on hand as well: a 124-grain jacketed hollow point is a sound choice out of a 4.25-inch barrel, with 115-grain full metal jacket for volume at the range.
