AGM PVS-14E 3APW Monocular Overview
The PVS-14 format is the most widely used night vision monocular in the world because it is light, rugged and versatile. AGM’s PVS-14E version weighs about 10.2 ounces and measures roughly 4.25 by 2.5 by 2.7 inches. It conforms to MIL-STD-810G, is waterproof and rugged, and operates from minus 60 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. A single AA or CR123 battery provides up to about 40 hours of runtime with the infrared illuminator off.
Image Intensifier Tube
The 3APW version is the top tier of the PVS-14E line, using a Gen 3 auto-gated image intensifier tube with P45 white phosphor. P45 phosphor is a fast-decay white phosphor known for a crisp, high-contrast image with minimal smearing when you move your head.
Gen 3 gallium arsenide photocathodes give excellent sensitivity in very low light, and auto-gating protects the tube while keeping the image stable under sudden bright light. The P45 white phosphor screen produces a clean black-and-white picture that many users consider the most natural and least fatiguing to view for long periods.
Features
The monocular shuts off automatically when flipped up out of view on a head or helmet mount and turns back on when returned to position. Manual gain control lets you adjust brightness for conditions, and an automatic bright-light cut-off protects the tube. LED indicators in the field of view show low battery, infrared on and excessive light. Electronic polarity switching means the battery works in either orientation, and the built-in IR illuminator helps in total darkness.
