Description

Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 6.5 PRC rifle in Phantom camo with tungsten action, C3 carbon fiber barrel and adjustable comb carbon stock

The Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 6.5 PRC is a full-carbon long range hunting rifle chambered in one of the most efficient cartridges available for the job. This one carries a 22 inch C3 carbon fiber barrel, a Phantom camo carbon stock against a Glacier tungsten action, and a half MOA accuracy guarantee, and it starts at 6.3 pounds.

Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 6.5 PRC Barrel and Cartridge

The barrel is Fierce C3 match grade carbon, a steel core wrapped in carbon fiber, cut to 22 inches with a 1:8 twist. Carbon wrapping keeps the barrel stiff and helps it shed heat while removing a significant amount of weight from the front of the rifle, which is why a magnum-class hunting rifle lands at 6.3 pounds.

6.5 PRC is the reason to look at this configuration rather than a 7mm. It pushes 140 to 147 grain high-BC bullets around 2,900 to 3,000 feet per second from a 22 inch barrel, which puts it comfortably past 800 yards on paper while producing noticeably less recoil than the 7mm and .30 caliber magnums. In a rifle this light, that recoil difference is the difference between spotting your own impacts and losing the target.

Phantom Camo, Tungsten Action, and Finish

Phantom is the grey and black pattern in the Rival lineup, and it is the one to pick if you hunt rock, shale, and dead timber rather than green brush or desert. It stays dark in low light instead of glowing the way tan-dominant patterns can at first and last light.

The Glacier tungsten action finish is a light grey Cerakote rather than a bright metallic, so it does not flash in sunlight and it reads as a match to the Phantom stock rather than a two-tone. Cerakote also handles sweat, weather, and abrasion far better than traditional finishes on a rifle that gets carried and set down on rock.

Action, Trigger, and Stock Features

The action is a dual-lug stainless design with a 70 degree bolt throw, which leaves plenty of knuckle clearance under a large objective scope. The bolt is spiral fluted and DLC coated, so it runs smoothly with very little lubrication. The receiver is drilled and tapped for standard bases and feeds from the AICS-compatible XP detachable magazine box.

The trigger is a TriggerTech Primary Pro Curved set at 2.5 pounds from the factory and adjustable roughly between 1.5 and 4 pounds. The stock is 100 percent carbon fiber with an LR negative comb, a push-button adjustable cheek rest, and integrated ARCA and Picatinny rails along the forend, so a bipod or a tripod clamp slides anywhere and locks without adapters.

Why Buyers Choose the Fierce Carbon Rival XP 2.0 6.5 PRC

It is the most shootable version of this rifle. A six-pound rifle in a hard-kicking magnum punishes you in a way that shows up in your groups; 6.5 PRC with the NIX brake fitted stays pleasant enough that you will actually practice with it. Factory ammunition is widely available in genuinely good match and hunting loads, and barrel life is better than the larger magnums.

Who Should Buy It

Mountain and open-country hunters chasing deer, sheep, goat, and antelope, and anyone who wants long-range capability without magnum recoil in a light rifle. The ARCA rail and adjustable comb make it a legitimate tripod and bipod rifle rather than a hunting rifle pretending to be one. If you are after elk-sized game at long distance, the 7mm PRC or 300 PRC versions of the same rifle will carry more energy that far.
