Description

The Proof Research Elevation MTR 6.5 PRC is arguably the most balanced rifle in the Elevation MTR family. It runs a 20 inch Proof carbon fiber wrapped match grade barrel on a Zermatt Arms Origin action, holds 3+1 through a detachable box magazine, and wears a Proof carbon fiber stock in Tactical Flat Dark Earth. Sub-MOA accuracy is guaranteed and verified by test fire before it ships.
Proof Research Elevation MTR 6.5 PRC Barrel
The barrel is a match grade steel liner wrapped in carbon fiber using Proof patented process, cut in a Sendero contour and finished at 20 inches. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 with a thread protector included. Carbon wrapping gives you the stiffness and heat capacity of a heavy barrel while keeping the front of the rifle light enough to carry comfortably all day.
Twenty inches is close to ideal for 6.5 PRC. The cartridge was designed around efficient powder burn, so it reaches most of its potential in a short barrel, and what you lose in velocity you gain back in handling and in a sensible overall length once a suppressor is threaded on.
Zermatt Origin Action and TFDE Stock
The Zermatt Arms Origin is a Remington 700 footprint action built to custom tolerances, with an interchangeable bolt head, a 60 degree throw, and a modified ball bolt knob. It runs smoothly and it takes any 700-pattern base, though you will not need one because a single piece Picatinny rail comes pinned to the black receiver from the factory.
The stock is Proof own fixed carbon fiber design in Tactical Flat Dark Earth, a tan and brown pattern that suits open country, sage, and high desert better than a dark green would. Length of pull is 13 5/8 inches, the trigger is a TriggerTech, and complete rifle weight in this line falls between roughly 6 pounds 7 ounces and 7 pounds 2 ounces.

Why Buyers Choose the Proof Research Elevation MTR 6.5 PRC
6.5 PRC hits a sweet spot that is hard to argue with. It drives 140 to 147 grain high-BC bullets fast enough to stay relevant past 1,000 yards, and it does it with recoil mild enough that a sub-seven-pound rifle is still pleasant to shoot. In a light rifle, that recoil difference against a 300 magnum is the difference between watching your impact and losing the target.
The components are the other reason. A Zermatt Origin action, a Proof carbon barrel and stock, and a TriggerTech trigger sourced individually and assembled by a smith would cost more and take months. This arrives built, test fired, and guaranteed.
Who Should Buy It
Backcountry and open-country hunters chasing deer, sheep, goat, and antelope who want long range capability in a rifle they can carry, and shooters who want one rifle for hunting and for ringing steel at distance. The pinned rail and threaded muzzle make it straightforward to set up with good glass and a suppressor. If elk and moose at long range are your priority, the 300 PRC version will carry more energy that far.
