Description

The Wilson Combat NULA 20 6.5 Creedmoor is Melvin Forbes original ultralight rifle design, now built by Wilson Combat, wearing an AG Composites carbon fiber stock in the Kodiak Rogue pattern. It weighs about five pounds bare and it is still a genuine hunting rifle rather than a novelty.
Wilson Combat NULA 20 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel and Muzzle
The 22 in. barrel is Wilson Combat 416R stainless, button rifled and double stress relieved so it stays put as it warms. Wilson cuts these in house, and the double stress relief is the step budget makers skip and the reason cheap light barrels tend to walk their zero.
Rifling is a 1:8 twist, the correct pitch for the 140 to 147 grain match and hunting bullets that made 6.5 Creedmoor popular. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and ships with a thread protector, so a suppressor or a brake goes on whenever you want one.
Action, Stock and Trigger
The receiver is fully machined and EDM cut from 4140 bar stock and the bolt from 4340, then the barrelled action is coated in Wilson Combat Armor-Tuff. The bottom metal is hard anodized aluminium with a hinged floorplate, and the receiver is drilled for 8-40 base screws rather than the smaller 6-48 threads, which is a meaningful upgrade if you plan to run a heavy scope.
The stock is an AG Composites carbon fiber shell in the Kodiak Rogue pattern, a black, grey and tan scheme that hides scuffs and breaks up outline. Length of pull is 13.5 in. A Timney Elite Hunter trigger breaks between 2.75 and 3.25 lbs., which is a hunting weight rather than a bench weight.

What Five Pounds Actually Changes
The difference between a five pound rifle and an eight pound rifle stops being an abstraction about three miles into a day. You carry it differently, you get it up faster, and you are less tired when the shot comes, which is when accuracy actually matters.
The cost is that recoil is more noticeable and the rifle is less forgiving of sloppy position work. A sling and a good rest fix most of that, and 6.5 Creedmoor is about the largest cartridge that stays pleasant in a rifle this light.
Why Buyers Choose the Wilson Combat NULA 20 6.5 Creedmoor
This is the design that created the ultralight rifle category. Melvin Forbes built the first ones in West Virginia and proved that a light rifle could shoot, and Wilson Combat now builds them with its own barrels and finishes. You are not buying a stripped down standard rifle, you are buying an action and a stock that were designed around light weight from the start.
The component list is honest too. A Timney trigger, an AG Composites stock, 8-40 base screws and Armor-Tuff are all things buyers add to other rifles after the fact.
Who Should Buy It
The Wilson Combat NULA 20 6.5 Creedmoor suits mountain hunters, sheep and goat hunters, anyone who walks a lot of miles for one shot, and older hunters who have decided a heavy rifle is no longer worth it. It suits a hunter more than a competitor, so pair it with a compact scope rather than a five pound optic.
