Description
The Trijicon RMR Type 2 RM07 FDE is Trijicon’s 6.5 MOA adjustable LED RMR in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote, the big-dot version built for fast pistol shooting. It is a common pick for FDE duty pistols and competition guns where the dot needs to appear the instant the gun comes up.
Trijicon RMR Type 2 RM07 FDE Overview
Trijicon part RM07-C-700717 is a Type 2 RMR with the second generation’s upgraded electronics and battery contacts. It offers 8 brightness settings, 2 of them night vision compatible, plus an automatic mode. The RMR footprint is supported by plates for nearly every optic-ready pistol, and no mount is included so you can pick the right one.
Choosing the 6.5 MOA Dot
A 6.5 MOA dot is built for speed. It is roughly 1.6 inches at 25 yards, large enough for the eye to catch immediately during a hurried draw or while moving, which is why many defensive pistol shooters and competitors prefer it. For small targets past 25 yards, the larger dot covers more of the target, so precision shooters often choose 3.25 MOA instead.
Controls and Battery
Push buttons on both sides of the housing adjust brightness through 8 settings, including 2 night vision compatible levels and a super-bright setting, toggle between manual and automatic brightness, and power the sight down for storage. Trijicon rates battery life at over 4 years of continuous use at setting 4 of 8. A lockout feature prevents accidental changes, and the sight remembers your last setting.
Mounting Options
No mount is included. The RMR footprint is the most widely supported optic pattern, so plates are available for nearly every optic-ready pistol, and Picatinny mounts are available for rifles and shotguns. Confirm your slide cut and buy the matching plate or mount.
Built for Abuse
The RMR is famous for durability. Its forged aluminum body uses a patented housing shape that steers impact energy away from the lens, and the sight is waterproof to 66 feet. Windage and elevation adjust 1 MOA per click with no special tools needed. This model is finished in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote to match FDE slides, frames and rifles. Cerakote is a tough ceramic coating, but like any color finish it will show edge wear over years of holster use.
Honest Considerations
The large dot trades precision for speed, covering more of a small target past 25 yards. The bottom-mounted battery requires removing the optic to replace it, and the FDE coating will show edge wear over years of holster use.
Ordering and Transfer
When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.
Safe Storage
Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
Your First Range Trip
Mount your optic, bore sight it, then fire your first groups at 25 yards before moving to 100. Let the barrel cool between strings, and record your zero and the load you used. Wear eye and ear protection, keep the muzzle in a safe direction, and clean the bore when you get home.
