Description
The Tippmann Arms M4-22 Elite MSR Black is a .22 LR rifle built to look, feel and handle like an AR-15. It runs a 16 inch black parkerized threaded barrel, a matte black aluminum receiver set with a full Picatinny top rail, and a free float M-LOK handguard.
An AR-15 That Shoots Rimfire
Tippmann did not build a .22 that resembles an AR from ten feet away. The upper and lower are aluminum and mil-spec compatible, so AR-15 stocks, grips, optics and accessories fit directly, and the manual of arms is identical to a centrefire carbine.
That matters most for training. Every drill you run on a service rifle transfers to this gun at a fraction of the ammunition cost, and .22 LR lets you practise in places where a centrefire rifle would be impractical or unwelcome.
Tippmann Arms M4-22 Elite MSR Black Barrel and Handguard
The barrel measures 16 inches with a black parkerized finish and is threaded at the muzzle, which opens the door to a rimfire suppressor or a muzzle device. A .22 can on a 16 inch barrel is about as quiet as centrefire shooting gets.
The M-LOK handguard leaves the barrel free floating and gives you direct attachment points for a bipod, a light or a hand stop without adding rail sections you will never use. The receiver’s Picatinny rail runs the full length of the flat top for optics.
Furniture and Capacity
The stock is an adjustable CAR15 polymer unit on a standard buffer tube, so length of pull adjusts for different shooters or for shooting in a jacket. The Gen2 pistol grip is Tippmann’s own and can be swapped for any AR-15 grip you prefer.
Capacity is 25+1 from Tippmann’s own magazine. The magazines are steel lipped, load easily and are inexpensive enough to buy several, which is the practical difference between a rimfire trainer you use and one that sits in the safe.
Ammunition and Accuracy
The M4-22 runs best on standard velocity and high velocity copper plated ammunition rather than the cheapest bulk lead round nose. CCI Mini-Mag, Federal Automatch and similar loads cycle a blowback rimfire action consistently, and the difference in group size at 50 yards is obvious. Expect a good shooter with decent ammunition and a red dot to hold minute of soda can well past 50 yards.

Why Buyers Choose the Tippmann Arms M4-22 Elite MSR Black
The Tippmann Arms M4-22 Elite MSR Black is the rimfire AR most people wish they had bought first. Aluminum receivers, mil-spec compatibility and a threaded barrel put it above the polymer framed .22 carbines it competes with, and it still costs a fraction of what a centrefire AR does to shoot.
Who Should Buy It
AR owners who want a cheap trainer, new shooters learning the platform, and anyone who wants a suppressor host that is genuinely quiet. It also makes an excellent small game and pest rifle around a property.
Be clear about the limits. Rimfire ammunition is far more sensitive to quality than centrefire, so bulk bargain .22 will cause more malfunctions than good ammunition will. No sights or optic are included, and .22 LR is a small game cartridge rather than a defensive one.
Tippmann sells spare magazines and a speed loader for this platform alongside the rest of our firearms selection. Manufacturer documentation is available from Tippmann Arms.
Every firearm we list ships to your chosen FFL and is transferred there after a background check.
