Taurus TX 9 OD Green Full Size 9mm 17+1 4.5in — Superb Optic-Ready Pistol

Description

The Taurus TX 9 OD Green is the olive-drab build of the full-size TX 9, catalogued by Taurus as 1-TX9F441-OD. A black slide sits on an OD green polymer frame, the chambering is 9mm Luger, the magazine holds 17 and the barrel measures 4.50 inches.

Olive drab is the least attention-seeking of the coloured frames. It reads as equipment rather than decoration, it hides dust and handling marks better than black, and it is the shade most likely to still look right in ten years. On a duty-size pistol that is worth something.

MAG5 Firearms has the Taurus TX 9 OD Green in stock. Handguns ship to a licensed FFL on a signed 4473, and we coordinate the transfer with your dealer.

Full-size, with the factory optic cut

• Seventeen rounds plus one chambered, which is duty capacity rather than a compromise.
• The slide is milled for a micro red dot at the factory and ships with a cover plate fitted.
• Factory milling means no gunsmith bill and no weeks with the pistol out of service.
• A 4.50-inch barrel gives the Taurus TX 9 OD Green a longer sight radius and a flatter recoil impulse than the compacts in the line.
• Fixed iron sights stay in place as a backup if a battery or an emitter quits.

Fit, rail and controls

• Interchangeable backstraps, which matter more on a full-size frame than most buyers expect.
• Aggressive texturing across the grip panels and front strap that holds under recoil.
• A full-length Picatinny rail ahead of the trigger guard, sized for a duty weapon light rather than a compact one.
• Front and rear slide serrations for press checks and clearing drills.
• The Taurus TX 9 OD Green is striker fired, so the trigger weight and travel are identical on every shot.

Ammunition is straightforward. Every 9mm Luger load from a reputable maker is produced to the chamber and pressure standard published by SAAMI, so practice ball and defensive hollow points both headspace and cycle correctly in this barrel. We stock CCI Blazer Brass 9mm for volume practice and Buffalo Bore 9mm +P for defensive use.

The same full-size pistol comes in black and in monotone Flat Dark Earth. For something easier to conceal, the TX 9 Compact holds 15+1. Compare the rest of our semi-automatic handguns first.

Why this OD Green TX 9 earns its place

• The Taurus TX 9 OD Green puts a factory optic cut, 17+1 capacity and a 4.5-inch barrel on one pistol at a price most makers reserve for a stripped model.
• OD green polymer is moulded in colour, so handling marks and scratches do not show black underneath.
• Interchangeable backstraps let one pistol fit two shooters in a household.
• Magazines, holsters and light mounts for the full-size TX 9 are standard catalogue items.
• Taurus backs it with a limited lifetime repair policy that follows the firearm rather than the original buyer.

This is a range gun, a home-defense gun and a first red dot host in one package. The Taurus TX 9 OD Green is forgiving to learn on because of the full-size grip, cheap to feed because it is 9mm, and ready for an optic whenever the owner decides to add one. The colour suits anyone who wants their pistol to match the rest of their kit rather than stand out from it.
