Description
The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend Black is the all-black version of Taurus’s straight-wall hunting revolver: six rounds on moon clips, a 10.5-inch barrel with a muzzle brake, and Picatinny rail moulded above and below the shroud.
The .350 Legend was designed as a rifle cartridge for states that restrict bottlenecked centre-fire rounds for deer, and putting it in a revolver is an unusual idea that works better than it sounds. Because the cartridge is rimless, the Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend Black loads and extracts on moon clips rather than by rim — the clips are part of the gun, not an accessory.
How it is set up
- A 10.5-inch barrel ending in a substantial muzzle brake, with the fibre-optic front sight carried out at the brake for an unusually long sight radius.
- Picatinny rail along the top of the shroud for an optic, and a second section underneath for a bipod or a light.
- The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend Black holds six rounds on a moon clip. Buy spares — the clips are the reload, and a bent one will tie the gun up.
- A matte black finish over a stainless steel frame, with a black cylinder and shroud. The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend Black is the uniform-finish version of the two-tone model.
- An adjustable rear sight, a transfer bar safety, an exposed hammer and a soft rubber grip.

Honest notes before you buy
- A muzzle brake is not porting. It is louder, and it directs blast back and to the sides — firing one from inside a blind or beside someone at a bench is genuinely unpleasant for everyone nearby.
- You will not get rifle velocity from a handgun barrel, even a long one. Factory .350 Legend figures are quoted from 16 to 20 inches; expect meaningfully less and choose a bullet that still expands at the lower speed.
- Moon clips are the ammunition management system. Load them at home, carry them loaded, and keep spares in a hard case rather than loose in a pocket.
- At 10.5 inches plus a brake the Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend Black is a chest-rig or scabbard gun, and it wants a rest.
- Check your own state’s regulations before hunting with it. Straight-wall rules vary, and a handgun is not always covered by the same provision as a rifle.

.350 Legend is a SAAMI-standardised cartridge — the dimensions and pressure ceiling are published by SAAMI, which is why it was adopted so quickly by states with straight-wall requirements. Loads run from 125 grain lead-free up to 250 grain subsonic, and the lighter, faster ones are designed around rifle velocities; for handgun use a heavier bullet built to open slowly is usually the better choice.
The two-tone version of the same revolver is stocked as the Raging Hunter in .350 Legend, and the long one as the 14-inch. For rimmed cartridges with no clips to manage, the .44 Magnum or the seven-shot .357.
Why the Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend Black earns its place
- The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend Black puts a straight-wall deer cartridge in a handgun, for hunters whose seasons are written around exactly that.
- Six rounds, where most big-bore hunting revolvers offer five.
- Rail above and below, so a scope and a bipod both mount without gunsmithing.
- Far milder recoil than a .44 or .500 Magnum, with a brake on top of that.
- Ammunition that is cheap and widely stocked, because rifle shooters buy it by the case.
This suits a hunter in a straight-wall state who wants to take deer with a handgun and is prepared to shoot it from a rest. It also suits anyone who likes the idea of a rifle cartridge in a revolver and does not mind working with moon clips. The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend Black is not a defensive revolver, not a walking gun and not a first big-bore.
