Description

The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend 14in is the longest barrel Taurus builds on this frame: a fourteen-inch stainless barrel with a muzzle brake, a full-length Picatinny rail moulded above and below the black shroud, a fibre-optic front sight carried right out at the brake, and six chambers fed by moon clips.

At this length the gun stops being a handgun in any ordinary sense and becomes a scoped hunting tool. The .350 Legend was designed as a rifle cartridge for straight-wall deer seasons, and the Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend 14in is the version of this revolver that gets closest to what the cartridge was built to do.

What fourteen inches buys

  • Velocity. Factory .350 Legend figures are taken from 16 to 20 inch rifle barrels; fourteen inches gets nearer to those numbers than any other revolver will.
  • A very long sight radius — the fibre-optic front sits at the muzzle brake, not back at the shroud.
  • Rail above the shroud for a scope or a dot, and a second section beneath it for a bipod, which this gun genuinely benefits from.
  • Six rounds on a moon clip. Buy spares: the clips are the reload, and a bent one will tie the gun up.
  • A matte stainless frame and barrel with a matte black oxide cylinder — the Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend 14in is built for weather.

Be clear about what this is

  • A muzzle brake is not porting. It is louder, and it directs blast back and to the sides — firing one from inside a blind, or beside someone at a bench, is genuinely unpleasant for everyone nearby.
  • The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend 14in is a rested gun. Fourteen inches out front is a lot of weight to hold offhand; a bipod, a rail or shooting sticks turn it from awkward into precise.
  • Carry it in a scabbard or a chest rig. No belt holster is going to make sense.
  • Moon clips are the ammunition system, not an accessory. Load them at home and keep spares in a hard case.
  • Check your own state’s regulations before hunting with it. Straight-wall rules vary and handguns are not always covered by the same provision as rifles.

.350 Legend is standardised by SAAMI, which is exactly why it spread so quickly through states with straight-wall requirements. Factory loads run from 125 grain lead-free up to 250 grain subsonic; the lighter, faster ones are built around rifle velocities, and with a barrel this long they are much closer to home here than in a short-barrelled handgun.

The 10.5-inch version of the same revolver is stocked as the Raging Hunter in .350 Legend. For rimmed cartridges with no clips to manage, there is the .44 Magnum two-tone, the ten-inch .500 S&W and the seven-shot .357.

Why the Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend 14in earns its place

  • The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend 14in is the closest a revolver gets to rifle performance from a straight-wall cartridge.
  • Six rounds, where most big-bore hunting revolvers offer five.
  • Rail above and below, so a scope and a bipod both mount without gunsmithing.
  • Far milder recoil than a .44 or .500 Magnum, with a brake on top of that.
  • Ammunition that is cheap and widely stocked, because rifle shooters buy it by the case.

This is for a hunter in a straight-wall state who wants to take deer with a handgun and is prepared to shoot it from a rest. It suits someone who already understands moon clips and wants the most capable version of the idea. The Taurus Raging Hunter 350 Legend 14in is not a defensive revolver, not a walking gun, and emphatically not a first big-bore — if you want something you can carry on a belt, the 10.5-inch model is the sensible choice.
