Description
The Taurus Judge Magnum Black 6.5 is the long-barrelled Judge in matte black oxide, catalogued as 2-441061MAG. Five rounds, a 6.50-inch barrel, steel barrel, cylinder and frame throughout, and a cylinder cut for 3-inch 410 magnum shells as well as 2-1/2 inch loads and 45 Colt.
This is the Judge that stops apologising for the 410 side of the design. Every short-barrelled version gives away velocity and pattern quality; with six and a half inches of barrel the shot column actually gets organised before it leaves, and a 45 Colt load gets to do what the cartridge was designed to do. The Taurus Judge Magnum Black 6.5 is a field gun, not a pocket gun.
MAG5 Firearms has it in stock. Handguns ship to a licensed FFL on a signed 4473, and we coordinate the transfer with your dealer.
Length and finish, and why both matter
- A 6.50-inch barrel burns the powder charge properly rather than sending most of it out as muzzle flash.
- Tighter 410 patterns, because the shot spends less of its flight spreading.
- A far longer sight radius, which is the biggest single factor in shooting any revolver accurately.
- Matte black oxide gives no reflection at all, which suits a gun carried in the open.
- The Taurus Judge Magnum Black 6.5 is steel throughout, so the forward weight settles the muzzle under a heavy load.

Cylinder, sights and action
- Five chambers bored straight through for 3-inch 410, 2-1/2 inch 410 and 45 Colt, with no adapter of any kind.
- Fiber optic front sight, which stands out against foliage, dirt and the inside of a dim outbuilding.
- Finger-grooved black rubber grip that spreads recoil across the whole palm.
- Exposed hammer, so the Taurus Judge Magnum Black 6.5 can be cocked for a deliberate single-action shot.
- Transfer bar safety blocks the firing pin mechanically until the trigger is fully pressed.

Both chamberings are produced to the dimensional and pressure standards published by SAAMI, so factory ammunition from any reputable maker is appropriate. Keep expectations sensible on the 410 side: a rifled barrel spins the shot column, so even at this length the pattern opens faster than a smoothbore would. What the extra barrel buys is a usable pattern at a distance where the short Judges have none. We stock Sellier & Bellot 410 3-inch 00 buckshot and Remington Performance WheelGun 45 Colt.
The same long-barrelled gun in stainless is the Judge Magnum 6.5. For a carryable version that still takes 3-inch shells, see the 3-inch Judge Magnum Black. Browse our other revolvers too.
Why the long black Judge earns its place
- The Taurus Judge Magnum Black 6.5 is the configuration that actually delivers on what the Judge promises.
- Matte black oxide is the most practical finish on a working gun and hides handling marks.
- Five rounds of 45 Colt at close to the cartridge’s real potential.
- No magazine and no slide, so it works after years sitting in a shed or a truck.
- Taurus backs it with a limited lifetime repair policy that follows the firearm rather than the first owner.
This is a property gun. The Taurus Judge Magnum Black 6.5 belongs on a farm, a trapline, a boat or anywhere snakes and vermin are a working nuisance rather than a curiosity, and the 45 Colt side gives real capability on larger animals at short range. Owners who tried a short Judge and found the 410 disappointing usually find this one answers the complaint.
