Description
The Taurus GX2 is the pistol Taurus built to undercut everything else on the shelf without feeling like it. A 3.37-inch barrel, a proper Picatinny rail, a flat-faced trigger and a grip texture that actually grips, at a price that leaves room for a holster and a case of ammunition.
This Taurus GX2 pairs a brown polymer frame with a matte black stainless slide, in ten-round configuration. It is the colour combination for people who want something other than another black pistol without going anywhere near bright.
What the Taurus GX2 brings to the counter
- The Taurus GX2 holds 10+1 of 9mm Luger, in a frame sized for a full firing grip rather than two fingers
- 3.37-inch matte stainless barrel under a matte black serrated stainless slide
- Brown polymer frame with an integral Picatinny rail, so a light mounts without an adapter
- Aggressive stippled panels on the grip, front strap and backstrap, which hold up with wet hands
- Flat-faced trigger with a short, clearly defined reset
- Front and rear slide serrations, cut deep enough to be useful rather than decorative
- A price point that makes the Taurus GX2 an easy first pistol or an easy spare

Where the Taurus GX2 fits
- Against the GX4 family: the GX2 is larger in the hand and cheaper. The GX4 is the concealment gun, the GX2 is the value gun
- Against a full-size duty pistol: you give up capacity and aftermarket support, and you keep the shootability
- The ten-round magazine makes this legal in restricted states and perfectly sensible everywhere else
- No optic cut on this model. If a red dot matters, look at the TORO versions of the GX2
- The rail is the feature most people underestimate. A weapon light turns a bedside pistol into something useful at 2am
- It is a polymer-framed 9mm at an entry price, and it shoots like one that costs more. It is not a custom gun and does not pretend to be

9mm Luger is the most heavily produced handgun cartridge in the world and one of the most tightly standardised, with chamber and pressure specifications published by SAAMI. That standardisation is why an inexpensive pistol can be trusted with everything from bulk range ammunition to premium defensive loads.
One point about the colour. The brown frame is moulded through rather than coated, so a scratch does not expose black plastic underneath the way a sprayed finish would. That is a real durability advantage over a Cerakoted frame, and it is worth knowing when you are comparing a Taurus GX2 in colour against a painted competitor at the same price.
Why this pistol earns its place
- A full grip and a rail at a price most makers reserve for stripped-down models
- The flat trigger and short reset are better than the price suggests
- Moulded-through colour rather than a coating, so the Taurus GX2 ages well
- Ten rounds plus one, which covers restricted states without a second purchase
- Cheap enough to keep in a truck, a shop or a nightstand without worrying about it
- A sensible first 9mm for someone who does not want to spend duty-pistol money
First-time buyers, people building a home-defence setup on a budget, and anyone who wants a spare 9mm that does not need babying. The Taurus GX2 is also a reasonable choice for a new shooter, because the grip is large enough to teach a proper hold on.
If you want the same pistol in a higher-capacity build, the standard black GX2 and the stainless-slide GX2 carry thirteen rounds. In ten-round trim, the OD Green is the closest colour to this one.
For something brighter, the cyan and grey frames are worth a look. And if you want something genuinely small to carry rather than keep at home, the GX4 XL is the concealment answer.
Every Taurus GX2 ships with the factory case, the magazine, the manual and a lock. Transfers go to your FFL and our end of the paperwork is done the same day.
