Description
The Taurus G2S is the single-stack version of the pistol that put Taurus back in the carry market. Seven rounds of 9mm in a frame just over an inch wide, at a price that makes it an easy second gun and an easier first one. This Taurus G2S pairs a tan polymer frame with a matte black carbon steel slide.
Two magazines in the box, adjustable white-dot rear sight, a manual thumb safety and restrike capability. It is a plain, practical carry pistol with no pretensions, and the narrow single-stack frame is the whole reason to choose it over a double-stack.
What the Taurus G2S is built around
- The Taurus G2S uses a single-stack magazine, so the frame is 1.10 inches wide rather than the inch and a quarter a double-stack needs
- 7+1 capacity in 9mm Luger, with two magazines supplied
- 3.25-inch barrel in an overall length of 6.25 inches and a height of 4.8 inches
- Just over twenty ounces loaded, light enough for inside-the-waistband carry all day
- Tan polymer frame with a matte black carbon steel slide
- Manual thumb safety in addition to the internal safeties, which a lot of first-time owners want
- Restrike capability: a second trigger pull on a round that did not fire, rather than racking the slide

Where the single stack makes sense
- Width is what prints through a shirt, not length. Shaving a sixth of an inch off the frame is more useful than it sounds
- Seven rounds is fewer than a modern micro-compact offers, and the Taurus G2S is flatter than most of them
- The adjustable rear sight is unusual at this price and genuinely handy for getting a chosen load on the sights
- No accessory rail on this model, which is consistent with the slim profile
- The manual safety can be ignored if you prefer. It does not interfere with the trigger when it is off
- This is a discontinued model, so what we have on the shelf is what there is. Distributors are no longer restocking it

9mm Luger is the most widely produced handgun cartridge in the world, and a standardised one: chamber dimensions and pressure ceilings are published by SAAMI. In a slim single-stack that standardisation matters, because magazine geometry is tighter than in a double-stack and a load that feeds in one pistol should be verified in your own.
One thing to be straight about. The Taurus G2S has been discontinued, which is why you will not find it in the current distributor catalogues. That is not a reflection on the gun; the market moved to double-stack micro-compacts and Taurus followed it with the GX4. Parts and magazines remain widely available, and the pistol itself is unchanged from the day it was made.
Why this pistol earns its place
- A genuinely slim frame, which is what actually determines how a pistol conceals
- Two magazines included, which several competitors still do not manage
- An adjustable rear sight on a budget carry pistol
- The Taurus G2S has a manual safety, which matters to a lot of new owners
- Restrike capability, useful when running cheap or old ammunition
- Priced low enough to be a spare, a glove-box gun or a first pistol
First-time carriers, anyone who has found a double-stack too thick to conceal comfortably, and shooters who want an inexpensive backup. The Taurus G2S is a sensible, unglamorous pistol and it sells to people who want exactly that.
If you want more capacity in a similar size, the GX4 Micro holds eleven rounds in a double-stack frame, and the GX4 XL holds thirteen with a full grip.
For a full-size pistol at a similar price, the Taurus G3 in 17-round trim and the 15-round G3 are the home-defence answers. In a mid-size frame with a rail, the GX2 is the current-production budget option.
Every Taurus G2S ships with the factory case, both magazines, the manual and a lock. Transfers go to your FFL and our end of the paperwork is done the same day.
