Description
The Taurus 605 Night Sight is a five-shot .357 Magnum with a three-inch barrel, a matte black stainless frame, cylinder and barrel, a Hogue finger-grooved rubber grip, and a tritium night sight at the front.
A glowing front sight is the most useful thing you can put on a defensive revolver, and it is the reason to choose this version over the plain 605. Most defensive shootings happen in poor light; a plain black front blade disappears against a dark target long before the light is gone. The Taurus 605 Night Sight keeps a bright aiming reference when the rest of the gun has vanished into shadow.
What is on the gun
- The Taurus 605 Night Sight has a tritium front sight — self-luminous, with no batteries and nothing to switch on.
- Five chambers in .357 Magnum, which also take .38 Special and .38 Special +P.
- A three-inch barrel with a shrouded ejector rod, which is what gives the Taurus 605 Night Sight a full ejector stroke for Magnum cases.
- Matte black stainless steel throughout — the corrosion resistance of stainless with a finish that does not reflect light.
- A Hogue finger-grooved rubber grip, an exposed hammer and a transfer bar safety.

Why three inches and a night sight belong together
- The extra inch over a snub recovers real velocity and cuts the muzzle flash that would otherwise ruin your night vision on the first shot.
- It also gives a longer sight radius, which is worth having as soon as you can actually see the front sight — which is the point of the tritium.
- A two-inch ejector rod is too short to push fired Magnum cases fully clear. Three inches fixes that, and it matters under stress.
- It still carries. The cylinder is what prints on a belt, and that is unchanged from the two-inch gun.
- Tritium fades. A vial is bright for something like ten to twelve years and then gradually dims — plan on replacing the sight eventually rather than assuming it is permanent.
- Full-power .357 in a small revolver is firm even at three inches. Practise on .38 Special and carry what you shoot well.

.357 Magnum and .38 Special are standardised by SAAMI; the Magnum case is a tenth of an inch longer, which is why the shorter round chambers in this revolver and the longer one will not fit a .38-only gun. If you shoot mostly .38 through it, clean the front of the chambers properly before going back to Magnum brass.
Other 605s in stock: the two-inch Taurus 605, the hardwood-gripped 605, and the optic-ready 605 TORO in stainless and black. For an enclosed hammer on the same frame, look at the 650 with a three-inch barrel.
Why the Taurus 605 Night Sight earns its place
- The Taurus 605 Night Sight has tritium as standard, which is usually an aftermarket job and a gunsmith bill.
- Three inches of barrel — enough to make .357 perform and to eject Magnum brass cleanly.
- Stainless under a matte black finish, so it resists corrosion without reflecting light.
- Two cartridges out of one cylinder, which keeps practice affordable.
- Revolver simplicity: no slide, no magazine, nothing to forget in the dark.
This is a nightstand and everyday carry revolver for someone who has thought about what low light actually does to a sight picture. It suits a shooter who will practise on .38 Special and keep a defensive load in it, and anyone who wants one small revolver set up properly rather than one that needs upgrading. The Taurus 605 Night Sight is not a range toy and not a target gun — five rounds and a slow reload keep it honest.
