Description

The first P211 pistols all wore compensators, which made them superb on a stage and awkward everywhere else. The Sig Sauer P211 GT4 21 Round is what happens when the compensator comes off and the slide gets shortened: a carry length double stack 1911 that still holds twenty one rounds, still feeds from cheap P320 magazines, and still has the single action trigger that made the platform worth building.
A Double Stack 1911 You Can Actually Carry
Overall length is 7.75 inches with a carry length slide and a 4.2 inch bull barrel, and height is 5.5 inches. Weight is 41.6 ounces with a magazine, which is a great deal lighter than the compensated GTO and still heavy enough that nine millimetre recoil is barely noticeable. This is not a pocket pistol, but it is a gun that fits a proper belt holster without the muzzle heavy feel of a race gun.
The removable steel magwell is low profile, which is the detail that makes the difference for concealment. A competition magwell flares wide and catches on cover garments; this one funnels reloads without adding a shelf at the bottom of the grip, and it comes off entirely if you want the slimmest possible profile.
Capacity is where a double stack 1911 earns its keep. Twenty one rounds in a 1911 grip is roughly triple what a traditional single stack Government model holds, and the pistol ships with one seventeen round and two twenty one round magazines so both a flush option and extended spares are covered from the start.
Magazines, Sights And Controls
P320 magazine compatibility is the reason this platform exists. Traditional 2011 magazines cost well over a hundred dollars each, need tuning, and a bad one loses you a match or worse. Sig designed a proprietary double stack chassis that takes standard P320 magazines instead, giving a feeding system that is inexpensive, stocked by every dealer in the country and more thoroughly institutionally tested than any boutique alternative.
Sights are XRAY3 day night sights, a tritium vial inside a luminescent ring up front against a black fixed rear. That combination works in daylight, at dusk and in genuine darkness, which is the right specification for a pistol meant to be carried rather than shot on a timer. The slide also carries a SIG-LOC PRO optic cut, a direct interface rather than a universal plate stack, so a red dot mounts without adding height or screws that can back out.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, the trigger is a flat skeletonised single action, and a three slot Picatinny rail sits under the dust cover for a light. The frame is stainless steel with an alloy grip module and black G10 panels, and both frame and slide wear a Nitron finish.

A note on the barrel figure. Sig markets this pistol with a 4.2 inch barrel and the press coverage uses the same number, but the specification table on the manufacturer site lists 4.0 inches. We have used the marketing and distributor figure here; the difference is immaterial in use but worth knowing if you are comparing spec sheets. Twenty one round magazines are also not legal everywhere, so check your state law before ordering.
Shooters cross shopping duty pistols keep coming back to the Sig Sauer P211 GT4 21 Round because it blends match grade accuracy with real world carry manners.
Why Buyers Choose The Sig Sauer P211 GT4 21 Round
The magazine argument is the strongest one and it compounds. An owner who wants six magazines for a traditional 2011 is looking at the better part of a thousand dollars in magazines alone, on top of a pistol that already costs more than most. P320 magazines cost a fraction of that and sit on every dealer shelf, which changes what the platform costs to actually live with.
The second argument is that it is a genuine 1911 rather than something styled to look like one. Grip angle, thumb safety, grip safety and a single action trigger breaking cleanly are all present. For a shooter who prefers that manual of arms and has been priced out of the double stack world, this is the first realistic entry point.
The third is the sight and optic package. XRAY3 tritium sights and a direct mount optic cut are what most owners fit aftermarket at considerable cost. Getting both from the factory means the pistol is ready for serious use without a gunsmith appointment or a plate that loosens under recoil.
Ownership of the Sig Sauer P211 GT4 21 Round is straightforward, with common service parts and a magazine ecosystem that is easy to feed.
Who Should Buy The Sig Sauer P211 GT4 21 Round
This suits an experienced shooter who wants double stack capacity with 1911 ergonomics in a pistol that can be carried on a proper belt, and anyone who has wanted a 2011 but balked at the magazine costs. It works equally well for home defence with a light on the rail. At forty one ounces it is not a summer pocket gun, and the price puts it well past a first pistol.
