Description

The Savage Impulse Big Game 6.5 Creedmoor is an American-made straight-pull rifle, which is still a rare thing on this side of the Atlantic. Pull the bolt straight back and push it straight forward and the rifle is ready again, with no lifting and no rotation. Savage wrapped that action in a Woodland camo AccuStock, gave it a 22-inch threaded fluted barrel, and finished the metal in Hazel Green Cerakote.
How the Impulse Action Works
The Impulse uses Savage’s Hexlock system: six hardened bearings that cam outward into the barrel extension as the bolt closes, and lock harder the more pressure the cartridge generates. There is nothing to rotate, so the shortest possible motion cycles the rifle. Follow-up shots come faster because the sight picture barely moves, which matters when a second shot is called for on a moving animal.
Savage Impulse Big Game 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel and Trigger
The 22-inch barrel is a medium contour, fluted to shed weight and cool faster, and threaded 5/8-24 for a brake or a suppressor. Rifling is 1:8, which is what heavy 6.5 Creedmoor match and hunting bullets want. The AccuTrigger is user-adjustable and breaks without creep, and a 20 MOA rail comes mounted so you have elevation to spare when you dial for distance.
An Ambidextrous Bolt
The bolt handle can be moved to either side of the receiver without tools, which makes the Impulse one of the few hunting rifles that genuinely works for left-handed shooters without a separate model. Because the motion is straight back and forward, either hand runs it the same way, and you can keep your firing hand on the grip while cycling.

AccuStock and AccuFit
The AccuStock uses an aluminum rail embedded through the stock to bed the action along its length, so the barreled action sits the same way every time it is torqued down. AccuFit adds interchangeable comb risers and length-of-pull spacers, which means you can set eye height for your scope and stock length for your build rather than adapting to the rifle.
Why Buyers Choose the Savage Impulse Big Game 6.5 Creedmoor
Straight-pull rifles have been standard in Europe for decades because they are faster and less disruptive to cycle. The Impulse brought that to an American price point, and the Big Game configuration is the version built for hunting: camo stock, corrosion-resistant Cerakote, a threaded barrel and a cartridge that does everything a deer or antelope hunter needs. The 8.8-pound weight also soaks up what little recoil a 6.5 Creedmoor produces.
Who Should Buy It
This is a strong choice for the hunter who wants faster follow-ups than a turn-bolt allows, for left-handed shooters tired of limited options, and for anyone who wants to try a straight-pull without paying European prices. Mount a scope in the included rail, set the comb and length of pull with the AccuFit pieces before you sight in, and confirm zero with the load you plan to hunt.
