Description
The Savage B17 Precision Lite 17 HMR is a bolt-action rimfire rifle with an 18-inch carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel, a black aluminum chassis, a 10-round rotary magazine, and a user-adjustable trigger. It weighs about 6.77 lbs and is built for accurate, dependable shooting.
Savage B17 Precision Lite 17 HMR Overview
The B Series Precision Lite trims weight from Savage’s rimfire precision rifle with a carbon fiber wrapped barrel, while keeping the rigid chassis and adjustable fit that make it shoot so well. The 17 HMR launches a light, fast bullet on a remarkably flat trajectory, which makes it a favorite for groundhogs, prairie dogs, crows, and other small varmints out past 150 yards.
Barrel and Action
The 18-inch button-rifled stainless steel barrel is wrapped in carbon fiber, giving you stiffness and heat resistance at a fraction of the weight of a solid steel barrel. It has a 1:9 twist matched to 17 HMR bullets, thread-in headspacing for consistent accuracy, and a threaded muzzle where local law allows a device.
Stock and Fit
The custom one-piece chassis from MDT is machined from billet aluminum for a rigid, stable platform, with M-Lok slots in the forend and an MDT pistol grip. Length of pull and comb height both adjust, so you can tailor the fit for a perfect cheek weld behind a scope.
Optics Ready
A one-piece 20 MOA rail comes installed, adding built-in elevation so your scope has more adjustment for long-range shots.
User-Adjustable Trigger
Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set your own pull weight for a crisp, clean break, a big advantage on small targets. The center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge, and the light, predictable pull helps new shooters build good habits.
Magazine and Handling
The 10-round rotary magazine feeds smoothly and sits nearly flush with the bottom of the stock, so it stays out of the way when you carry the rifle or shoot from a rest. Spare magazines make range days more productive, and dropping the magazine makes unloading quick and safe.
In the Field
Rimfire rifles often prefer one load over another, so try a few brands of 17 HMR to see which groups best in your barrel. Lighter, faster bullets are great for small pests, while heavier bullets buck the wind better. Pair the rifle with a quality rimfire scope and a steady rest, and you will be surprised how far you can make precise hits.
Care and Cleaning
Rimfire ammunition leaves more fouling than most centerfire loads, so a little routine care keeps the Savage B17 Precision Lite 17 HMR running smoothly and shooting accurately. After a range session, wipe down the bolt and chamber area, run a few patches through the bore, and put a light coat of oil on exposed metal. Store the rifle in a dry place and it will give you years of dependable service.
