Description
The Savage Axis XP Compact 223 Left Hand is a complete, ready-to-hunt package for left-handed shooters. Savage pairs its Axis XP bolt action in 5.56 with a short-length stock and a factory-mounted 3-9x40mm scope, so smaller-framed shooters and new hunters can get to the range or the field without buying extra parts. This listing is Savage model 33104, UPC 011356331045 (Sports South item 199848).

Savage Axis XP Compact 223 Left Hand Overview
The XP designation means the rifle ships as a scoped rifle package with the optic already mounted and bore-sighted from the factory. This stock has a shorter length of pull than a standard Axis, which helps youth, many women and shorter-armed adults get a proper fit and a full field of view through the scope. The bolt and ejection port are on the left, made for lefties.
5.56 NATO and .223 Remington
Sports South lists this rifle as chambered in 5.56, while our original title used .223 Rem. A 5.56 chamber can safely fire both 5.56 and .223 Remington ammunition, which gives you a wide choice of affordable range and varmint loads. It is a mild-recoiling cartridge, ideal for teaching fundamentals and for coyotes, groundhogs and other varmints; check your state’s rules before using it on deer.
Stock and Threaded Barrel
The black synthetic compact stock has a pistol grip and resists weather. The 20-inch matte black carbon steel barrel is threaded at the muzzle for a brake or, where legal and properly registered under the NFA, a suppressor. The receiver is drilled and tapped if you later want to upgrade the scope mounts.

Before You Buy the Savage Axis XP Compact 223 Left Hand
Package scopes are designed for value, so they are fine for typical hunting distances but not as clear or durable as premium glass; many owners upgrade later. Always re-confirm zero at the range before hunting. The short stock may feel cramped for larger adults; spacers or a full-size stock can extend it. Left-hand rifles may need left-hand compatible accessories.
Getting Started
Before the first trip, clean the bore, check that the scope rings are tight, and confirm zero at 50 and 100 yards with the load you plan to use. Teach new shooters to keep the safety on until the scope is on target and to work the bolt smoothly. Because ammunition is inexpensive, the Savage Axis XP Compact 223 Left Hand is easy to practice with often, which is the fastest way to build confidence and good habits for left-handed shooters.
Who It Is For
Left-handed youth and new hunters, parents buying a first centerfire rifle, and anyone who wants an affordable, accurate varmint rifle that is ready out of the box will be well served by the Savage Axis XP Compact 223 Left Hand. It also makes a practical ranch rifle for pest control.
