Description

Ridgeline FFT 7mm PRC rifle with carbon fiber barrel and carbon gray Flash Forged Technology stock

The Christensen Arms Ridgeline FFT 7mm PRC is a mountain rifle built to be carried a long way and then shot well. It pairs a 24-inch Aerograde carbon fiber wrapped barrel with the Flash Forged Technology stock, the lightest stock Christensen builds, finished here in carbon with grey accents.

Starting weight for the Ridgeline FFT line is 5.4 pounds, and Christensen backs every one with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee from a cold barrel.

Ridgeline FFT 7mm PRC Barrel and Muzzle

The barrel is 416R stainless steel wrapped in Aerograde carbon fiber, button rifled with a match chamber and free floated through the forend. Carbon wrap sheds heat faster than steel of the same profile and removes real weight where it hurts most, out at the muzzle.

Threads are 5/8×24 and the rifle ships with a removable stainless side-baffle brake installed. Swap it for a suppressor and the rifle stays balanced, which is not something you can say about every magnum sporter.

Action, Trigger and Stock

The receiver is a Christensen Arms precision machined stainless action, spot bedded into the stock and compatible with standard Remington 700 optics bases. Feeding comes from an internal magazine with an aluminum hinged floorplate, holding three magnum rounds, with AICS detachable magazines available via an aftermarket conversion.

Trigger duty falls to a TriggerTech unit, which uses a frictionless release that breaks with essentially no creep. The bolt is spiral fluted and wears an enlarged aluminum knob for fast, positive cycling in cold hands.

Why 7mm PRC

7mm PRC was designed around long, heavy 7mm bullets, with a case and throat geometry that lets them seat properly rather than intruding into powder space the way they do in older 7mm magnums. The case is non-belted, headspacing on the shoulder, which feeds more smoothly and is easier to handload consistently.

Out of a 24-inch barrel a 175 or 180 grain bullet leaves fast and holds velocity remarkably well. For elk, mule deer and open-country hunting, it delivers flatter trajectory and better retained energy than a 7mm Rem Mag at similar recoil.

Optics and Setup

Because the receiver takes standard Remington 700 bases, mounting glass is straightforward and the aftermarket is enormous. A 3-15x or 4-16x scope around 20 ounces keeps the finished rifle near seven pounds scoped, which preserves the reason to buy a rifle this light.

Spend on the rings as much as the glass. An ultralight magnum moves under recoil, and cheap mounts are the most common cause of a rifle that will not hold zero.

Why Buyers Choose It

Carbon fiber done properly is expensive, and Christensen has been building carbon-wrapped barrels longer than almost anyone. The FFT stock, spot bedding and TriggerTech trigger are why the sub-MOA guarantee holds up on a rifle at this weight.

Who Should Buy It

This rifle suits the backcountry hunter who wants magnum reach without magnum weight, the elk or mule deer hunter working open country on foot, and anyone who has decided that rifle weight is what limits how far they will hunt.
