Description
The North American Arms 22MC Holster Grip (NAA-22MC-HG) is a convertible 1-5/8 inch magnum-frame mini-revolver that ships with two cylinders, one for 22 Magnum and one for 22 Long Rifle, plus NAA’s folding holster grip. It is a five-shot stainless single action weighing about 6.5 ounces.

North American Arms 22MC Holster Grip Overview
Factory specifications list a 1.63 inch barrel, 5.13 inch overall length, 2.81 inch height and 1.06 inch width, with a half-moon front sight. The convertible feature means you can practice with inexpensive 22 LR and switch to 22 WMR for more energy. The holster grip folds around the trigger to form its own clip-on case, then unfolds and locks to give a fuller grip than the standard bird head panels on the magnum frame.
Two Cylinders, One Revolver
Swapping cylinders takes about a minute: unload, pull the base pin, remove one cylinder and insert the other. The two are not interchangeable in purpose. Only 22 LR goes in the Long Rifle cylinder and only 22 WMR goes in the magnum cylinder, never the reverse. Keep the spare in a labeled pouch so you always know which caliber is installed before you load.

Why Practice With 22 LR
22 Magnum ammunition typically costs several times as much per round as 22 LR, and it produces much more blast and flash from a 1-5/8 inch barrel. Using the Long Rifle cylinder for most practice saves money and lets you build trigger control without flinching. Run a few cylinders of your carry load periodically so you know how it behaves.
Living With the Holster Grip
Folded, the grip covers the spur trigger and clips into a waistband or pocket. Opening it is a deliberate two-step motion, so rehearse it unloaded until it is smooth. Once open and locked, the grip gives most hands a full two-finger hold with room for the pinky to curl underneath, which tames the magnum cylinder’s muzzle rise noticeably.

Carry Safety
The cylinder has notches between chambers. After loading, carefully lower the hammer into one of those notches so it rests between rounds instead of on a rim. This applies equally to both cylinders. If you ever feel unsure whether the hammer is seated in a notch, unload and start again rather than guessing.
Choosing Magnum Ammunition
Short barrels change how 22 WMR performs. Loads designed for handguns, such as lighter bullets and flash-reduced powders, tend to work better than rifle loads from a 1-5/8 inch tube. Test several brands for accuracy and reliable extraction, since magnum rimfire cases can stick in a dirty cylinder.
State Laws and Ownership
Mini-revolvers are legal to own in most states, but several states limit which handguns a dealer may sell. California, Massachusetts and Maryland keep handgun rosters, and New York, New Jersey and Illinois require permits or ID cards before a purchase. Check that this exact model can be transferred where you live before ordering. Carry permits are still required in many states, even for a five-shot rimfire this small.
