Description
The LWRC IC Nine is a 9mm carbine built on LWRC’s Individual Carbine platform, with a 16-inch cold hammer forged threaded barrel, a 12-inch M-LOK rail and fully ambidextrous controls. This configuration wears an olive drab green finish with a black stock and ships with a 27-round magazine.
A Pistol-Caliber Carbine Built Like a Rifle
Most 9mm carbines are built to a price, using cast receivers and simple blowback actions with whatever furniture is cheapest. LWRC took the opposite approach and built the IC Nine to the same standard as its 5.56 rifles. That means aluminum upper and lower receivers, the LWRCI fire control group, ambidextrous controls and an Ultra Combat Grip, all carried straight over from the rifle line.
Cold Hammer Forged Threaded Barrel
The 16-inch barrel is cold hammer forged, a process that work-hardens the bore and delivers a service life measured in tens of thousands of rounds. Twist is 1:10, which suits the full range of 9mm bullet weights from 115 to 147 grains. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28, the standard pitch for 9mm suppressors and compensators. A pistol-caliber carbine with a can on the end is about as pleasant as shooting gets.
Twelve-Inch M-LOK Rail
The free-floating twelve-inch M-LOK rail gives room for a light, a laser, a hand stop and a sling mount without crowding. It also puts the support hand well forward, which is exactly what you want for controlling a light, fast-cycling carbine. M-LOK is the current standard, so accessory choice is effectively unlimited.
Fully Ambidextrous Controls
The LWRC IC Nine has an ambidextrous charging handle alongside ambi controls, so left-handed shooters and anyone shooting from the support side get the same manual of arms. On a defensive carbine that is a genuine capability rather than a convenience. The adjustable stock lets you set length of pull for body armour, heavy clothing or a shorter shooter.
Twenty-Seven Round Magazines
The rifle ships with one 27-round magazine. Pistol-caliber carbines earn their keep on low recoil and high round counts, and a 27-round magazine means very long strings between reloads. Nine millimetre is also dramatically cheaper to shoot than 5.56, which matters enormously for training volume.
Why a 9mm Carbine
A 16-inch barrel adds meaningful velocity over a pistol, recoil is negligible, and muzzle blast indoors is far less punishing than a 5.56 carbine. For home defense inside a house, or for high-volume training, those are exactly the right trade-offs.

Who Should Buy It
This suits home defense inside a building, high-volume training, suppressor owners and anyone who wants an AR manual of arms with 9mm running costs. Recoil is close to nothing and the platform is familiar to every AR shooter.
The LWRC IC Nine costs considerably more than a budget pistol-caliber carbine, and 9mm gives up range and barrier performance to 5.56. Sights are not included, so budget for an optic.
Shooters who need range and terminal performance should compare a 5.56 carbine, and buyers on a tight budget will find cheaper 9mm carbines in our catalog. Every firearm we list ships to your chosen FFL and is transferred in accordance with federal and state law.
