Barcode 030317026288 is Leupold item 179570, the M&P version. The other listing on this site with the same title is barcode 030317024949, item 178745, cut for the Glock rear dovetail. Each drops into that pistol family and only that one.

Leupold are explicit about the exclusions. Neither version fits rimfire Glock or M&P models, Glock MOS models, the M&P CORE, the Shield EZ, or the M&P 5.7. Why the Leupold DeltaPoint Micro M&P Mounts in the Dovetail

Most pistol red dots require a slide milled for an optic cut, which means either buying an optics ready gun or paying a gunsmith. The Leupold DeltaPoint Micro M&P avoids both by using the rear sight dovetail that is already on your pistol, and it sits at the same height as your factory irons.

That height is the whole point. Because it replaces the rear sight at iron sight height, your existing draw and presentation still work and the dot appears where your eye already looks. There is none of the learning curve people describe with a tall slide mounted optic.

The tradeoff is that you give up your rear iron sight and the window is small. This is a carry optic for a pistol you did not want to have milled, not a competition sight with a large viewing area. If your M&P is already optics ready with a slide cut, a plate mounted sight gives you a bigger window and more choice.

The dot is 3 MOA, which is a sensible size for defensive pistol distances: quick to find, small enough not to bury a target at twenty five yards. Eight brightness settings, and Motion Sensor Technology puts the sight to sleep when the pistol is still and wakes it the moment it moves.

Eight settings is enough range that the Leupold DeltaPoint Micro M&P works indoors at a low level without blooming and outdoors in sun without disappearing. On a small window sight, getting that brightness right matters more than it does on a rifle optic, because there is less glass to give your eye a reference.

Battery is a CR1632 with a published life of roughly 100,000 hours on low, 30,000 on medium and 500 on high. One hundred thousand hours is over eleven years. On a carry gun that means you replace the battery on a calendar rather than because the dot went out.

Adjustment is microfriction rather than clicks, with 100 MOA of elevation travel and 180 MOA of windage. Leupold do not publish a click value for the Leupold DeltaPoint Micro M&P because there are no clicks, so we have not invented one to fill the row.

The sight weighs 1.1 ounces and measures 2.25 inches. It is a fully enclosed design, so the emitter fires across a sealed tube rather than sitting in an open channel. On a pistol carried against a body all day that is the single feature most worth having, because lint and sweat are what kill open emitter dots.
