Description
The Holosun SCS-MP2 Green Solar Sight is a solar-charged pistol optic shaped to mount directly on Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 optics-ready slides with no plate. It uses a green Multi-Reticle System and recharges from light, so there is no battery to buy or change.
Holosun SCS-MP2 Green Solar Sight Overview
Holosun’s Solar Charging Sight charges a built-in cell from its top panel, with a rated reserve of 20,000 hours. The 7075-T6 aluminum housing measures 2 by 1.05 by 0.95 inches and weighs 1.35 ounces, with a 0.77 by 0.58 inch window. Windage and elevation adjust 1 MOA per click across plus or minus 50 MOA, and the sight is rated for 5000G of vibration.
Plate-Free M&P Mounting
The SCS-MP2 is contoured to the M&P 2.0 slide and mounts directly to its optic cut. Removing the plate keeps the optic lower and eliminates a joint that can loosen. Holosun’s spec table lists all M&P 2.0 full size and compact optics-ready models, while its description names full-size 9mm and .40 slides, so confirm fit for your exact pistol.
Green Circle-Dot
Choose a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or both. The circle-dot is fast for defensive shooting because the ring catches your eye during the draw, while the center dot handles precise shots. The 540nm green LED is bright in daylight and often appears crisper than red to shooters with astigmatism.
Automatic Brightness and Power
Light sensors set brightness automatically, and an override locks the reticle at maximum for 30 minutes. There is no manual brightness menu. Shake Awake sleeps the reticle when the pistol is still and wakes it on movement. Holosun says regular light exposure can keep the sight running indefinitely, and a low-battery warning alerts you if it needs light.
Open Emitter Care
The SCS is an open-emitter sight, so lint, rain or debris can sit on the LED and block the dot. Check and clean the emitter window during routine maintenance, especially on a carry gun. If you need a sealed optic for harsh conditions, an enclosed model with a plate is the alternative.
Living With a Built-In Cell
The cell is non-removable, which means no battery changes but also no swapping in a fresh battery in the field. A pistol kept in a dark safe slowly uses its reserve, so give it some light before a range trip. For a daily carry gun or one kept near a window, it is close to maintenance-free.
Ordering and Transfer
When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.
Safe Storage
Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
