Description
The Holosun HE512T-GR Titanium Green Dot is a hooded, HWS-style rifle sight machined from titanium with a green Multi-Reticle System and solar backup. It gives AR-15, shotgun and PCC owners a big rectangular window and a fast circle-dot reticle in a housing built for hard use.
Holosun HE512T-GR Titanium Green Dot Overview
The housing and protective hood are grade 5 titanium, much tougher than the aluminum used on most red dots. Holosun lists a 0.91 by 1.26 inch window, a body of 3.35 by 1.63 by 1.7 inches and a weight of 9.17 ounces. The integrated mount clamps directly to Picatinny. Windage and elevation adjust 0.5 MOA per click with plus or minus 50 MOA of travel. The green LED is bright and crisp in full daylight.
Green Circle-Dot
The MRS offers a 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA circle, or the two together. The 65 MOA circle-dot mimics the classic holographic reticle and is outstanding for fast shooting at close range, while the plain dot is better for groups at 100 yards. Green stands out against sunlit backgrounds and many shooters with astigmatism see it more cleanly than red, making it a strong choice for outdoor use.
Solar and Battery
The battery loads from a side tray so you never need to remove the sight to change it, and Holosun rates life at 50,000 hours on setting 6. The Solar Failsafe panel supplements the battery in good light. Shake Awake shuts the LED down after the rifle sits still and wakes it instantly when it moves. Brightness offers 8 daylight and 4 night vision settings plus automatic mode.
Height and Co-Witness
The built-in mount places the reticle at 1.41 inches, an absolute co-witness height with standard AR-15 iron sights, so your irons appear right through the middle of the window. Shooters who prefer a more heads-up posture can add a riser. On tactical shotguns with rails, this lower height often lines up naturally with a standard cheek weld.
Built to Take a Beating
Titanium resists dents and corrosion far better than aluminum, and the hood shields the front lens from knocks. That makes the 512T a sensible pick for truck guns, ranch rifles and duty-style carbines that get bumped, dropped and rained on. It is also why the 512T costs more than the aluminum 512C.
Before You Decide
At just over nine ounces it is heavier than a micro dot, and it takes more rail length. If you want the lightest possible setup, a 515-series micro dot is the better fit. Holosun lists IPX8 on its spec table and IP68 elsewhere, so treat it as submersion rated. This is the green reticle model; the red HE512T-RD shares the same housing.
