Description
The Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot is titanium in an RMR footprint. Holosun builds this enclosed pistol sight from titanium rather than aluminum, with a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, solar failsafe and 50 MOA of adjustment travel in each direction. Part HE508T-X2-RD.

Titanium Without The Proprietary Footprint
Holosun makes two titanium enclosed sights including the Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot and the difference between them is the thing worth understanding before you choose. The 509T uses Holosun own 509T mounting pattern. This one uses the RMR footprint.
RMR is the most widely supported pattern in the pistol optic world, so the Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot fits slides and adapter plates that most people already own, and it drops into the same holes as whatever RMR sized sight you are replacing. You also get 50 MOA of adjustment travel here against 30 on the 509T, which is real headroom if you are mounting through a plate. The cost is weight: two ounces against 1.27.
What Titanium Actually Buys You
Almost every pistol optic other than the Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot is 7075 aluminum. It is light, it machines well, and it is perfectly adequate for most people. Titanium is a different proposition.
For the same weight it is substantially stronger and far more resistant to corrosion, which is why it turns up in aerospace and surgical hardware rather than in things that need to be cheap. On a carry gun the corrosion resistance is what matters day to day, because a sight worn against a sweaty body inside a holster lives in a mildly hostile environment every hour it is carried. The Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot is built for guns that get carried rather than guns that get cased.
Sealed Emitter, Because Carry Guns Collect Things
An open reflex sight, unlike the Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot, fires its emitter upward from an exposed shelf at a lens. It works until holster lint, sweat, sunscreen, gun oil or rain lands on that emitter, at which point the reticle dims or dies and you find out at the worst possible moment.
The Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot has no exposed emitter. The assembly is sealed inside the housing with glass at both ends, so there is nothing for debris to land on and nothing to wipe before you can trust the dot. A sealed emitter in a titanium housing is a sight designed around being carried hard and maintained rarely, which describes most defensive pistols honestly.
Fifty MOA Of Travel Is The Quiet Advantage
Adjustment range on the Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot is 50 MOA in each direction, where several Holosun optics including its own 509T sibling give you 30. Nobody advertises this figure and it is the one that decides whether a sight can be zeroed on your particular pistol.
Slide cuts are not perfect and adapter plates stack tolerances on top of them. Put a short travel optic on a gun that already points slightly off and you can run out of adjustment before you run out of error, which leaves you with a sight that will not zero and no obvious explanation. Fifty MOA of headroom is insurance, and combined with the RMR footprint it makes this the more forgiving of the two titanium sights to actually mount.
Solar, Shake Awake And Both Brightness Modes
A solar panel harvests ambient light and will keep the Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot running if the CR1632 dies or is removed. The cell is rated 50,000 hours at setting six, and Shake Awake sleeps the sight when the pistol is still, so that figure describes far more calendar time than continuous running would.
Brightness on the Holosun HE508T X2 Red Dot runs automatically or manually, with memory to restore your last setting and lockout to stop a holster changing it. Automatic is the sensible default on a defensive gun; manual is there for when the scene lies to the sensor, which snow, a white wall or a headlight aimed at you will all do. Eight daylight settings and four night vision settings, and the 32 MOA circle can be switched off entirely if you want just the 2 MOA dot.
