Description

The Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot is the green, solar equipped version of the 507C, the pistol optic the rest of the market is measured against. A 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or both, at 540nm, on the RMR footprint with 50 MOA of adjustment travel. Part HE507C-GR-X2.

The Part Number Is Worth Getting Right

You will see the Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot listed as HS507C-GR-X2 in a number of places, including in our own catalogue until recently. That part number does not exist.

Holosun uses HS for the standard models and HE for the ones with solar failsafe fitted, and the green 507C X2 is only sold with solar. So the Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot is the correct designation, it is the solar version, and there is no non solar green X2 to compare it against. If you have been trying to work out the difference between two part numbers, that is why you could not find one.

Green At 540 Nanometres

The Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot emits at 540nm, essentially where human daylight vision is most sensitive. A green reticle therefore appears brighter to your eye than a red one producing the same actual light, which buys you contrast without buying current draw.

Where that shows up in use is against backgrounds that eat red: brick, rust, timber, brown clothing, dirt berms. The Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot holds separation from all of those. The reverse is also true and worth saying, because nobody else will: against grass, foliage and green painted steel, green is the colour that struggles and red would serve you better. Pick by what you shoot at, not by what is fashionable.

Fifty MOA Of Travel

Adjustment range on the Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot is 50 MOA in each direction. Several optics in the 407, EPS and Comp families give you 30. It is a number nobody advertises and the one that decides whether a sight can be zeroed on your particular pistol.

Slide cuts are not perfect and adapter plates stack tolerances on top of them. Mount a short travel optic on a gun that already points slightly off and you can run out of adjustment before you run out of error, leaving you with a sight that will not zero and no obvious reason why. Fifty MOA of headroom is insurance against exactly that, and it is why this is the safer choice when you are going through a plate rather than into a native cut.

Solar Sits Behind The Battery

The panel on top of the Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot harvests ambient light and will run the sight on its own if the CR1632 dies or is removed entirely. The cell is rated at 50,000 hours at brightness setting six, and Shake Awake sleeps the optic whenever the pistol is still, so that figure describes far more calendar time than continuous running would.

The realistic way a pistol optic fails is a dead battery in a gun that sat in a safe for two years. Solar closes that door in any lit room and anywhere outdoors. The tray loads from the side, so a battery change never means unbolting the sight, never disturbs the mounting screws, and never puts your zero in question.

A Ring To Learn On, A Dot To Shoot With

The Multi Reticle System on the Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot gives a 2 MOA dot alone, a 32 MOA circle alone, or the circle with the dot inside it, all from the same emitter so switching never moves your point of impact.

That freedom is worth more than the spec sheet suggests. Learn the draw with the ring, because a large circle is far easier to find than a small dot while your presentation is still forming. Once the gun arrives in the same place every time, drop to the bare 2 MOA dot for a clean window and precise work. Or leave the Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot on circle and dot, as most owners eventually do, and simply have both.

Ten Daylight Settings, And No Auto

Brightness on the Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot is ten daylight steps and two night vision steps, set manually. Holosun does not fit automatic brightness to this model, and on a defensive pistol that is arguably the right call.

Automatic brightness, which the Holosun HE507C X2 Green Dot does not have, reads a scene well until the scene lies: snow, a white wall, a headlight aimed at you, a bright doorway with a dark room behind it. Manual control plus lockout means you decide what the reticle does and then freeze it there, and ten daylight steps is enough resolution to land on the setting where the dot is clearly visible and no brighter, rather than settling for the nearest.
