Description
The Holosun EPS Core Red 3 MOA is Holosun’s value-priced enclosed pistol sight, built to mount directly on slides cut for the Shield RMSc pattern. It gives concealed carriers a sealed emitter and a crisp 3 MOA red dot at a price below the standard EPS line.
Holosun EPS Core Red 3 MOA Overview
Holosun part EPS-CORE-RD-3 uses a 6061 aluminum housing, hard anodized black, measuring 1.61 by 1.18 by 0.97 inches and weighing 1.4 ounces. The window is 0.9 by 0.63 inches, a bit wider than the EPS Carry, which helps on the draw. Front and rear glass seal the 650nm LED so lint, sweat and rain cannot block the dot. Adjustments are 1.5 MOA per click with plus or minus 30 MOA of travel.
A 3 MOA Middle Ground
A 3 MOA dot splits the difference between the precision of a 2 MOA dot and the speed of a 6 MOA dot. It is easy to find in a carry-sized window yet small enough to hold on a head-sized target at 25 yards. For most people carrying a compact 9mm, it is the most versatile single-dot choice.
Direct RMSc Mounting
The EPS Core mounts directly to the RMSc footprint, the pattern used on many micro-compact optic-ready pistols, including several SIG P365 variants, Springfield Hellcat OSP slides and Shield-cut aftermarket slides. No adapter plate is needed on those guns, which keeps the optic low and reduces the number of screws that can loosen. Always confirm your exact slide cut before ordering.
Battery and Controls
Battery life is rated at 50,000 hours at setting 6, and the cell slides out from the side without removing the optic. Shake Awake turns the LED off when the pistol sits still and on when it moves. There are 8 daylight and 4 night vision brightness settings, an automatic mode, memory and lockout. This model does not have a solar panel.
Core Versus Standard EPS
The Core trims cost by using 6061 aluminum instead of 7075 and by dropping solar on the single-dot version. For a carry gun that is not abused, those differences rarely matter. If you want a circle-dot reticle and solar backup, the EPS Core MRS is the upgrade within the same line, and the standard EPS uses the tougher alloy.
Notes Before You Buy
Our earlier listing title mentioned solar, but Holosun’s specifications for this 3 MOA single-dot model show no solar panel; solar is found on the Core MRS model. Holosun shares one set of angle photos across EPS Core colors, so the gallery may show the gold version of this identical housing.
Ordering and Transfer
When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.
Safe Storage
Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
