Description
The Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA is the original ARO rifle sight in red: one 2 MOA dot at 650nm, half MOA adjustment clicks, an MAO finished aluminum body at 3.38 ounces, and both mount heights supplied in the box. Part ARO-RD2.

The Older, Lighter ARO
Worth saying at the top rather than burying it, because the Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA is not the current model. Holosun has replaced the plain ARO line with the ARO EVO. That is not a reason to avoid this sight, but it is a reason to understand the trade.
The EVO has a larger window than the Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA at 1.02 inches against 0.86, adds solar backing behind the battery, and offers four night vision brightness settings rather than two. In exchange it weighs 4.3 ounces plus its mount where this one is 3.38 ounces all in. The newer sight is bigger and better equipped; the older one is nearly an ounce lighter and simpler. On a build where weight has genuinely been argued over, that is a real point in its favour.
Half MOA Clicks Are The Buried Specification
Adjustments on the Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA move 0.5 MOA per click, where the category standard is 1 MOA. Nobody advertises this and it is the number that decides whether you can genuinely zero a rifle or merely get close to it.
At a hundred yards each click shifts your impact half an inch. Paired with a 2 MOA dot fine enough that the reticle is not the limiting factor in your group, you can walk a group onto the bull rather than watch it hop from one side to the other. Fifty MOA of total travel in each direction is enough range for any sane mount height, including the taller ones people use to get a co witness on an AR.
Red Is The Efficient Choice
The Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA emits at 650nm, and red emitters draw less current than green or gold for a given output, and red is the reticle colour most shooters have already trained on. A colour your eye knows is worth something real when you are working against a timer.
Where red struggles is against warm backgrounds: brick, rust, timber, brown cardboard, dead leaves. If your rifle lives on a range shooting white or painted steel, or in built environments, that objection largely disappears and the Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA is the sensible, efficient answer. If you shoot in heavy timber and brush, the green and gold versions of this same sight will serve you better and we stock both.
A Bare Dot, Deliberately
Holosun sells the same ARO housing as the Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA with a 65 MOA circle around the dot. That version is easier to pick up close in, and if most of your shooting happens inside twenty five yards it is the better buy.
The Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA is the opposite choice. One small dot, nothing else in the glass, nothing arriving before it on a transition and no menu to learn or change by accident. For a rifle shot at deliberate pace, or one that will sit behind a magnifier where a circle becomes clutter, a clean window is worth more than a clever one.
Both Mount Heights In The Box
Holosun supplies the Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA with a 1.63 inch mount and a 1.05 inch mount. The taller sits the reticle above backup irons on a standard AR and gives a more upright head position; the lower shrinks your mechanical offset, which is what you want on a pistol caliber carbine or a shotgun.
The mount height on the Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA is not a cosmetic decision. At a hundred yards offset is irrelevant; at seven yards it is the difference between a hit and a miss on a small target, because the bore sits well below where you are looking. Most manufacturers supply one height and sell you the other, so getting both means you can try them and keep whichever your cheek weld prefers.
MAO Finish, IP67, 1000G
The Holosun ARO Red 2 MOA body is aluminum finished in MAO, micro arc oxidation, rather than ordinary anodising. MAO grows a harder and more corrosion resistant surface, which is what belongs on a housing expected to be knocked about rather than admired. Rated IP67 for dust and immersion and tested to 1000G of vibration, running a CR2032 rated at 50,000 hours, with Shake Awake to sleep the sight when the rifle is still. Ten daylight brightness settings and two night vision settings.
